Long live the King!

I thought many years ago, Prince Charles reportedly said he was already too old and would instead abdicate to his son Phillip?

Perhaps I'm mistaken... either that or he's since changed his royal mind. :dunno:

Charles doesn’t have a son named Phillip. Just William and Harry, no?

Good riddance, get rid of all of them. What a waste of their taxpayer money.

They will spend millions putting her in the ground.  Got some energy problems to deal with O'there

Oops, your right. William was the one I was thinking of.

Ya know why England is a world-wide tourist attraction?  The royal family. It's a boom to the economy and likely offsets the costs.

Most likely accurate but still ridiculous and will soon become a thing of the past.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/863893/support-for-the-monarchy-in-britain-by-age/

support for the monarchy in decline among the young doesnt mean it will go away.  maybe they cut 75% of the funding but it would still exist for tourism purposes.

Now we have to deal with all the stuff with a royal burial plus the crowning of King Stuffipants.

Queen's passion for corgis dated back to her childhood, when she fell in love with her father King George VI's dog, Dookie. 🐕💩

Geez, I understand thinking the “Monarchy” is outdated or whatever but damn, kinda harsh even for this place.

You're saying the royal family tourism myth is all rubbish?  Complete bollocks?  A load of tosh?

You know Charles had to walk out of that room, down the hallway into another room then into a closet, pump his fist and scream YES!!!!

Like Bob Kraft did when his wife died.

its odd how some people would relish being a ceremonial figurehead monarch and others would be terrified of the notoriety.

RIP Queen.

And while there are conflicting reports such as MTSKiBum's post, most indications I've heard over the years are that they generate much more tourism revenue than they spend. The Queen filled the seat well and leaves a vacancy, we'll see how the much less revered Charles does in the role.
