now that Keenan Allen might be back, someone offers me a trade for him?  bruh.

You have to offer that trade weeks ago for it to have any merit

your box full (you innerwebs slut, you). you need to look at actual production and performance.  several of my offers would have provided you with more consistency and depth... and  wins, while my receiving side would be higher risk/reward. for example...

lockett has been part of one offer.. he is quietly wr10 overall with 13 or more pts in 7/10 weeks

jacobs has been part of an offer: rb6 overall; over 10 pts 6/10 weeks; over 30 pts in 3 weeks

Fournette has been part of an offer: rb10 overall; over 10 pts in 8/10 games; 3rd highest rb in receptions

Walker has been part of an offer: since week 5 (when penny went down); he's averaging around 20/game

not offering you chump change

man, it's been a rough 3 weeks.. 1st to 7th just like that. Last minute lineup changes cost me wins in weeks 10 and 11 and then I played the high score in week 12. It was actually a bit of a game through halftime of SNF, nice win @Bier Meister

I know it sucks when one division has 4 win teams leading the way and some good teams from other divisions will be left out. I never considered not doing 3 divisions because I have not been in a 12 team league that didn't use divisions in quite some time. I think this is a rare case but I assume we will vote on keeping divisions or eliminating them for next season.

One mistake I did make, although I don't see any setting on yahoo where it could have been altered, is that I have a feeling tie breakers are determined by divisional record rather than total points scored.

Why does this matter?
Total points scored is always the best tie breaker as it is the best indicator of a teams overall strength during the course of the full season.

Example

A KFC team could finish 8-6 with 1800 points scored and a 2-4 division record. A UFC team could finish 8-6 with 1700 points scored and a 3-3 division record. Their divisional opponents were not the same and bye week luck plays a big role in those matchups, yet the UFC team would get the nod despite being a weaker scoring team for the full season. Divisional record is usually meant to be just a throwaway stat, maybe bragging rights at the most. In my ESPN leagues, divisional record is shown but never really counts for anything.

It can also come into play within a division. Bier has solidly had the strongest team all season but there is likely a scenario where he could finish tied with Shore atop the division standings and not be the top seed despite leading the league in points scored.

also for those of you who feel I am droning on, suck my balls :D. Im just trying to cover all bases and be transparent so we have a good league that continues on.

I was looking at playoff scenarios a couple weeks ago. I think the division record tie breaker is a yahoo standard setting and it can't be changed.

I think having divisional record is relevant in determining division winner, then can be relevant again if the only teams left under consideration are in the same division. say there is a 3 way tie for wc at 8-6. if they are not all in the same division, i should be removed from playoff consideration.

1-2 with the two losses by a combined 3 points.  First one I forgot to check the Thursday game when Cooks was out, second was a last minute lineup change.

Get rid of divisions and division records.  They are stoopid.

Proof:  Tampa and Tom Brady are going to make the playoffs with a sub 500 record.

I think WW might be one of those types.  Don't worry though, we're all winners, we all get participation trophies at the end.   :first:

No need to have another reason to dislike him.

No shiit sherlock, if you read the posts I said it was never my intention and I don’t see a spot in yahoo where it could have been changed. Total points is always the best barometer.

Divisions are fairly typical in FF. Based on all the crying, it will be changed next year. This was all put together at the 11th hour.

It looks like yahoo does division record followed by total points. Which means Ed would advance based on total points regardless of your previous matchups.

but he will be extra pissed when he wins and cloaca wins and clock advances based on having the best division record. 😂

I am ahead of him now, so division record must not matter.

I just noticed I was #1 on waiver wire. :excited:

This is true. All of my 12 team leagues (except for my 2 FFPC teams) use divisions.  It makes sense as it somewhat emulates a conference in the NFL.  These were determined randomly, so i wouldn't say that scenarios like this do not play out that often.  we do see lesser records win a higher seed based on division.

my $.02 is that division record is relevant in determining division winner, and then WC when the only teams involved in the tie breaker are in the same division:

HTH

division record

pts

if we were to move to pts as the primary tie breaker, i would advocate for best ball.  when jeudy leaves the game on the first play, the broncos do not play with 10 players in on offense...someone comes in.

I'd probably be out if we went to a best ball format. They can be fun in certain ways but I'm not interested in another league with less decisions to be made. The injury example is a good one but BB leagues don't typically only account for injuries. Literally not having to make any decisions on who to start or sit is much less fun, imho.

I am not in any leagues that use HTH as any form of tie breaker for a few reasons

1. you don't play every opponent the same number of times (this was even more true prior to 2021 when the schedule was 1 less week and you couldn't cleanly play everyone in your division twice without adding a double header week)

2. You can very often end up in a tie with someone you played once, when 3 or 4 of your players were on bye and they had a full strength lineup.

Total Points has always seemed to be the best barometer of season long success.

Other leagues I run use divisional record for division winners, obviously, but tie breakers are simple total points... (believe me, if there had been a clear setting for it in Yahoo, that's how it would have been set up. It's possible I missed it as I don't really use Yahoo, but I don't remember ever seeing an option).... Worst thing that happens is the #2/3 seeds can sometimes have less points scored than a wildcard team and the #3 seed can, in rare circumstances, have a worse record than the wildcard teams.. which we know sometimes happens in the NFL too.
