Cole Beasley

Recommended Posts

Brady campaigned for the bucs to sign him and is now on the practice squad ...probably until he learns the playbook ...we all know brady loves his slot (welker/edelman) receivers ...I just scooped him up

That's an excellent pick up.

He's the perfect slot WR for Brady.

I wouldn't expect prime Wes Welker numbers or anything like that but he should provide excellent WR depth and a flex option

Short yard 1st down specialist ppr gold is the vibe I'm getting ...Brady has his deep threats but no gronk the unvaxed Bease may be the guy that moves the chains

what has beasley been doing?  is anyone confident he's ready to go (and not just a fishing exercise by TB)?

82 catches for 700 yards last year in Buffalo suggests there's fuel in the tank ..,he's never had any significant injuries

so, he has been an unsigned FA trying to find a spot - not someone trying to retire, i suppose?

From what I've read he requested a trade and the bills released him back in March ...I'm thinking he wasn't happy the way they treated his decision on the clot-shot

I get it.  But is there any opportunity? Evans is only out 1 game.  Godwin should return somewhat soon.  They have julio and gage.  Plus fournette sees a fair amount of touches.

I mean he may have a few 5 catch 45 yard games in him if he gets a chance.  If you are looking for 9 pts.

Godwin is the slot Guy he's banged up and scared to take it up the middle ... I see Brady running beasley  into the ground if he's producing and the yac is gonna be there. Brady love him some short white dudes

So when Godwin returns he is losing his job to Cole Beasley?

Or is this a just in case Godwin keeps getting hurt?  I can sort of see it from that perspective.  I still doubt he totally beats out Gage.  Cole could work his way into like 20 snaps a game.

You would think of Brady is real high on Cole then they would have picked him up earlier than now?

Some good valid points...bottom line is there's enough potential to hang onto him to see how it shakes out...I've watched a couple bucs games and brady doesn't like 3 and out coming off the field drives...he looks frustrated and doesn't have a security blanket

Maybe they haven’t picked  up Beasley until now  cause they thought Godwin would be ready to go, now he keeps getting those nagging injuries, I think if one needs a flyer at wr Beasley could be a good move,  After two games not seeing much out of Gage, and I think Jones is going to be in and out weekly, he can’t stay healthy.

I’m not sure but I don’t think the deal is guaranteed so they could cut him at any point and lose nothing.

I don't recall it being guaranteed... do you?  At $358k, that's a little over $21k per game.  If he's there 4 weeks, he'll get almost $85k.  I don't think that's going to force their hand in keeping him.

And your supposed to be a tb fan? Pretty sure they promote him f/ the p/squad this week and he will be the only name recognizable on the team and your already cutting him smh how bout we see how the chemistry goes 1st

Doesn’t really matter for their next game , Godwin isn’t playing , both Gage and Jones are suffering with nagging injuries, and M Evens selflessly got himself suspended, I think if one needs a flex at wr Beasley could be worth a shot.

Yeah, I am a Tampa fan and I'm telling you what the most likely scenario is.  As soon as Godwin and Jones are healthy, he's getting cut.  Evans, Godwin, Jones, & Gage are all better than Beasley.  If the Bucs didn't think so, they'd have signed Beasley before they signed Jones and Gage.  On top of that, there's Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller.  Again, Beasley's been available since March.  If the Bucs thought he was an upgrade over those 2, he'd be here and not them.  After those 6 WR's, the Bucs still have Jaelon Darden & Kaylon Geiger on special teams.  Tampa fan or not, common sense tells you... no, it asks you, how many WR's do you think Tampa's going to carry?  They're already at 8, not counting Beasley, LOL.

I'll even go as far as to tell you that Beasley may not even take a snap in a game before he gets cut.  If he can't get on the field this week and Jones & Godwin are ready to go against KC next week and finish that game healthy, Beasley gets cut next Monday.

Probably mad sombody else in your league already grabbed him...so if they signed gronk he's gonna get cut to? You should be a head coach the o/g's know

Even with a healthy Evans & Godwin....Beasley could flourish. Brady has made a career of making careers for receivers like him...Amadola, Welker, Edelman. Gronk is gone, Brate isn't the answer....Linus likes his blanket. Brady doesn't ask for something for no reason. Not saying "IT" will happen, but there is a track record that can't be dismissed.

gage is nothing. And none of the other guys, talented as they may be, do what Beasley does.   Im not predicting gold, but its a smart addition to the team.

I'll disagree on a few points.

"as soon as" those guys are healthy... Well, Julio can't stay healthy. This is known... and Godwin now needs to prove that, which he will... but having a sure handed slot guy on the team makes good sense. Look what happened last season when they lost Godwin and AB.

Gage is not better

Perriman and Scotty Miller are not better.

I'm not predicting some wild fantasy success and i'm not even saying he won't ultimately be released. You are correct, he has been a free agent for a while now but i'm not going to pretend to know all the reasons why and neither should you (his agent, how much he wanted versus what hes really worth? etc, etc. lots of potential reasons it took this long)

If Brady lobbied for him, I think it at least needs to be considered that Brady thinks he can be more reliable than Julio / Gage etc. and an improvement over the middle on what he currently has.

It would be kind of cool if the two leading receivers in the Brady/Rodgers game had been teammates for Dallas, but Beasley left Dallas in 2018 and Cobb came to Dallas in 2019.

If Beasley plays he already becomes more reliable than Jones/Gage.

you are probably right, but my thought is if Brady lobbied for them to sign him, hes probably around til end of season.

I'm assuming the earlier poster who mentioned this is on the money in terms of the Brady request to sign him.

from what I can tell, Brady should get what he wants, so from that perspective, his role in the slot should be unaffected by the presence or absense of Godwin who does not typically play slot.

Brady also lobbied for Julio and Gage.  Both got bigger deals.  If everyone is healthy, Beasley will get cut.  Tampa is not going to carry 9 WR's.

Hate to say it but think your right and only reason Brady's press conference seemed fishy when he said ("he's a great player") and that was it..packers defense looked good..came down to the last play
