not a movie but Gravity Falls has no right to be as awesome as it is.  I think most people are literally bawling in tears at the end.

 

Cabin in the Woods - halloween type film

Serenity - altho you probably need to watch Firefly first.

the booth at the end - low budget almost zero budget but very good

Locke - another zero budget film that showcases tom hardy

1408 - horror film - samuel l jackson

Source Code (2011) - jake gyllenhall - sci fi action thriller

Coherence (2014) psychological thriller

Girl on the Train (2016) Emily Blunt

 

also not a movie but i really wound up enjoying the tv show 12 Monkeys.
