She should be like top 3. But I don't know that much about country music.

My favorite is Johnny Cash.

Funny story.
I was in Dallas on business by myself many many years ago and was bored so I decided to go to a strip club. I remember the first couple songs were rock - probably even girls girls girls by Motley Crue - and a few songs later DJ said do you want to hear some country ??? I screamed NOOOOOO. Everyone else screamed Yes !!!! I left.

What???   No mention of Conway Twitty?

I had him on my list, but removed him for Waylon Jennings.

Keith Whitley is a good comparison to Bo Jackson. He had a great sound until Lori Morgans killed him at a young age.

I started the thread.

For Me in no particular:

Hank

Johnny

Loretta

Dolly

Hank- phenomenal talent. Rumor  has him receiving 6 encores on his first guest appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. Made him an Opry member the next day.
Died in the backseat of his car on the way to a gig. Morphine & alcohol.
In fairness, he had a tractor accident, then fell off a stage. He suffered through back pain throughout his life. Because he was traveling through multiple states en route to his New Years Day gig, he received more than one morphine shot that evening. Coupled with a fifth of bourbon and a blanket in the backseat, he never made it to the next gig. Hank

Johnny- The Man in Black- Served prison time. Was kicked off the Grand Ole Opry when he used the mike stand to bust out all the stage lights in a drunken rage. Later hosted the Johnny Cash show from that same stage. Guests included Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, The Who, & The Monkees.

Loretta- some of her songs were actually banned from radio. She was cool.

Dolly- Legend. Sponsors Imagination Library. Tries to make sure kids receive books to read in their early years. And, are those real?!?!?

I saw Willie sometime in the 90s. Could have seen Charlie Daniels a few years before but ended up doing something else that night. A guy I went to college with has been Hank Jr’s tour manage for years.

Same about Charlie and could have seen him for free and was doing security at a fair but didn't go cause I had to do the night shift later. I did see Waylon and George Jones though. Waylon is my all time fav Country singer.

This is an impossible task. I'm not even going to try.

Best I can do is a Top 15 in no particular order:

Johnny Cash

George Strait

Dolly Parton

Chris Stapleton

Willie Nelson

Hank Williams Jr.

Alan Jackson

Carrie Underwood

Merle Haggard

Waylon Jennings

Eric Church

Randy Travis

George Jones

Kenny Rogers

Loretta Lynn

Waylon was an incredible song writer. Loved life for many and shared it. Taught me much. I’m a better man because of him.

Not Top 4 but a hell of a singer-songwriter. Big fan.
