Another new rule for World Cup. If each team scores a goal in OT, you add an additional 2 15 min periods. Ending on penalty shots is just pathetic. If no one scores in the extra 30 minutes. fine. I still don't like it, but I get it.

An NHL playoff game can go an extra 60+ minutes and then they have to play 2 days later. When do these focks have to play again? Cut with this ish with this penalty kick madness

Meh. Had a wager on France from before it started. The French let me down? Shocker.

you're the only one in the world. Nice taking it out of context too.

Absolutely ridiculous to end a game of this magnitude on PKs.

It's the equivalent of deciding a Masters playoff with a putting contest.

Not far off. I'd say a 100 yard shot contest, but yeah. Pathetic.

They are making major changes to next World Cup, adding 16 teams to go to 48 to starts - as far as the groups (16 groups of 3 teams) - Not sure of any potential rule changes

You’d think a goal in overtime ends the game but no, still time for another. Different from hockey.

IIRC, they got rid of the golden goal in the mid-2000s…. I think they even had something stupid like the silver goal…

As far as I know, field hockey and ice hockey is the only thing that uses the golden goal still in overtime…

Has anyone brought up the demographic of the French team?  France has an estimated 5% black population but the French soccer is at least 50% black.

This is the US's problem.  Our best athletes don't play soccer and probably never will.

Just an observation.

No we don't...  HT is wrong, as usual...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France_national_football_team#Current_squad

All but three of the current players were not born in France, two of them moved to France at the age of two (Mandanda - Zaire and Camavinga - Angola) and another one was born in Italy (Thuram but his father is French)...
