MORE than financial freedom

Recommended Posts

I’ve mentioned here before that my wife is COO of an ESOP company and that she has some SAR incentives.  One is a 9 year retention incentive.  So she just has to stay.  The other is a 7 year retained earnings incentive.

The retention one will be paid Jan 1 2030.

But the RE incentive starts Jan 1 2023.

This situation is fcking phenomenal.  1-1-23 she’ll be getting a check for about $120k.  It’s structured to decrease every year, but she’ll get these lump sums every January for 5 years.

Until this past March we’d been debt-free for 3 years but then we bought her a new car and didn’t want to take $65k from our savings so we financed $30k of it.

Well, that’ll be gone in January.  And then we have nothing but a freshman in college and a 7th grader.

She’s likely to retire at 55.

You just can’t talk about this stuff with family and friends because it comes across as boasting or it’s insensitive to people who aren’t as fortunate.  And I’m not boasting, just giddy at how the last half of life is opening up for us.

Thank goodness there are FFT strangers to tell about it.

I have to imagine a 9 year retention bonus must be quite lucrative.

Almost triple the value of the RE.

 Good for you and your wife.

I get it.

FYI - If you haven't engaged with a tax specialist, I highly recommend it.  There are a lot of income tax dollars to be saved or wasted!

Congrats to you and your family OP.  Sounds like you're set up.  How old are you?  Those two college tuitions will be expensive but worth it.

Well hey, congratulations. And remember? No matter how much money you have? Cancer doesn't care. Moreover, having a stroke is free. Treating one? Not so much.

Then there's early onset Alzheimer's. Macular degeneration where you slowly go blind...

So yeah, go ahead and count those stacks of cash mcduck.

Maybe your nurse can help you count the stacks when she's not busy wiping your ass or feeding you applesauce.

😧

Just remember, the more she makes? The smaller your diick appears To her.

The kids are grown, she's making bank, and your pudgy Down syndrome face ain't getting any prettier.

Think I'm kidding? Just look at Tom brady.

And you sir, are no Tom brady.

In fairness, look into long term care insurance before you and your wife hit 50.
