I just turned the game on. How much of Hamlin's knob getting stroked did I miss?

They stroked it when talking about last weeks kickoff TD return

His voice is a bit grating but he’s just so undeniably knowledgeable that it makes up for anything else. There is no more knowledgeable commentator right now. Or I should say they may know as much but they don’t articulate it as well as Romo.

I love Tony as much as anybody, but yeah, IMO, he needs to dial it back a bit.

He is.  Yes he is.   He's trying to do too much now.

Yes. He needs to be spoken to. Would appreciate if Nantz during a game would say "Would you shut the fock up?"

Nantz love of Romo is second only to Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. And it’s close.

I disagree - I think he was worse in the beginning- predicting almost every play (usually right). And the Ooooohhhhh Jim’s haven’t been as much.
He still needs to shut the fock up

Romo is the best announcer out there.  It's amazing to me networks can't find more people that can sound excited to watch and talk about football while also saying something interesting about the product on the field.

Brian Billick was an underrated announcer.  He didn't do it for very long though and Fox usually had him buried on their 3rd best game.

I must be in the minority---I rarely can differentiate between announcers. Only one that I really noticed that last few years was Jeff Gordon, Nascar, and that's cause he has a whiny voice.

One thing we can all agree on is anyone is better than Collinswoth and his hokey drawl.  Even Booger is better than Collinsworth.

Billick was very good.

I like Romo but I don`t need him to try and predict every play.

I'm the same way for the most part, but Romo and Collinsworth have such distinctive styles that it's hard not to notice.  They happen to be the two best in my opinion as well.

I guess I can see now why networks can't find dynamic announcers.  Judging by this thread, people just don't want dynamic announcers.  Looks like we prefer the milquetoast cliche machines.

Well, Bill, the Vikings are going to need to score more points than the Giants today if they plan on winning this game.

That's right, John.  The team that scores the most points has a good chance at taking home a victory in this one.

I guess that's how we prefer our announcers.

Yes.

I'm also a bit nervous about Brady being the color guy on the #1 FOX team next year.  I'll give him a chance, but I'm not sure how he'll take watching Mahomes continue to encroach on the GOAT conversation for the next decade.  Maybe he'll take it like a man, but men usually don't make out with their kids.

:ninja:

But yeah, some of these analysts are trying too hard.  We can watch the game, and we don't need you to create the narrative for every game you are assigned to.

I wouldn’t say he’s getting tiresome but he’s gotten away from what made him really good and that was almost calling out the play before it happened and then dissecting it quickly. Now it’s just him going.” Ooooooooh I don’t know jim!!” over and over.

Greg Olson too.  Both these guys are good, but they do not have to comment in depth after every single play!!

Romo is the same as he was as a player.  Good but not great.

Olson is downright horrible

He talks so much that he contradicts himself. I posted this in the game thread yesterday.

Romo-  If you don't have linebackers you should blitz Mahomes, Three plays later, Romo- That why you don't blitz Mahomes! Lol
