Championship Round Discussion

Recommended Posts

I'd like to see a Bengals/49ers super bowl... But I like Mahomes, Kelce etc so I wouldn't mind the Chiefs. I also feel like the Eagles will advance. I don't dislike any of their players. Hurts seems pretty likeable and he was my fantasy QB this season but Philly fans are just the worst.

Bengals now favored.  80% of the spread money was going to them.

AFC championship game spread flips, Bengals now favored to beat Chiefs

All of those bets on the Cincinnati Bengals caused the sportsbooks to make a significant change in the point spread of the AFC Championship Game.

The Kansas City Chiefs are now underdogs at home for the AFC title game. The Bengals, who were 1.5-point underdogs on Monday morning, flipped to a 1.5-point favorite at BetMGM on Monday afternoon.

It's rare to see a game with this much anticipated betting handle see the favorite change. But there are plenty of reasons bettors are high on the Bengals going into the game, and the biggest is Patrick Mahomes' ankle injury.

Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain in the first quarter on Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars and was affected the rest of the game. He'll undoubtedly play on Sunday but it's unclear how injured he'll be.

There's also respect for the Bengals, who looked very good beating the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The Bengals were getting more than 80 percent of the money bet on the spread for the AFC Championship Game at BetMGM as of Monday morning.

It is very rare for the Chiefs to be an underdog in the Mahomes era, and even weirder to see them as a home underdog. The Chiefs have done well as an underdog with Mahomes at quarterback. Perhaps the favorite shifts again as the week goes on, but as of Monday afternoon, the Bengals were the team giving points.

If Mahomes truly has a high ankle sprain, I don't know how he plays effectively enough to beat this Cincy team. He's a bad man but, he's gotta be able navigate the pocket, plant and throw.

Like I said earlier, the Chiefs are getting every possible excuse ready if they lose...

It's not an excuse at all, most players can't play with that injury.

True, but most also don't come back in the game where they got the "injury" to finish it...

I heard Mahomes was working out in public yesterday.   Not sure why, but they aren't any excuses.   And traditionally it's dumb to bet against the Chiefs as a home dog.

I think it was Romo who said that right when that kind of injury happens you can get back in and play, but the next day you might not be able to walk.  The body can do remarkable things when it needs to, but then can shut down when the coast is clear.

Of course there is a wide range of severity, so I guess we'll see.

I thought Cincy was toast due to their O line. Very impressed with them.

Mahomes is one of, if not, the best qb in the league. One of his greatest assets is him mobility.  If he is not mobile, it certainly changes KCC's dynamics

That’s silly. If you don’t have to account for his mobility it’s a different strategy for the defense.

That is enmeshed with his ability to run.  If he cannot, we have different offensive and defensive strategy in play.

Did you really expect anything from different from probably the biggest homer on the board?

When pat Mahomes is your team's quarterback, you have every right to believe you will win every game.

This is just a dumb response, forget mobility, what if planting and throwing is a major issue?

Mahomes is incredible, best QB in the league, we're talking about a high ankle sprain though. Can't believe that dude even posted that, idiotic.

For all we know, Mahomes may be practicing today.   Sounds like the best remedy is to keep moving and working it, rather than sitting around and resting.

Mahomes will practice in full according to Andy.

“No injuries to report” to lead off the Press Conference.

I wonder why a Giants fan took a charger player for a handle? Carl Banks was taken?

It feels like theres a trend where when two top QBs square off, one of them dominates right from the start and it is relentless their entire career.  Brady dominated Manning and Roethlisberger immediately and forever.  Aikman dominated Favre immediately and forever.

We're sitting here and Burrow is 3-0 v Mahomes already.

I think this is 49ers-Bengals in the Super Bowl.

From your post to God's eyes...

That would be a great Super Bowl as the Bengals try for their first one again against the team trying to become the third in the Super Bowl era to win six titles...

KC and Philadelphia got theirs recently, get some new blood in there...

If my Eagles don’t win Sunday I’m rooting for the Bengals to beat the 49ers. SB rematch and Cincy gets their first.

Not going to be easy vs philly…

a qb more willing to run

more offensive weapons than dal and the hawks

very good defense

It's going to be a dogfight. It's not the best matchup for Philly either. I could see Kittle having a very big day.

SF was lucky to get past Dallas................ and Dak isn't qb this week.

Iggs roll and cover.

Bungles continue to have KC's #, win a close one.
