If KC doesn’t win it all this year they start to take on a Green Bay feel.

Quick thoughts...

For Philly to be successful:

be aggressive on the outside vs SF dbs

allow hurts to run. while SF has an excellent defense, these two areas are vulnerabilities. if they do this often, I can see Goedert's role increasing as the game plays on.

For the 49ers to be successful:

minimize the big plays by air

minimize hurts' ability to extend drives with his legs

maximize personnel mismatches on offense

more cmc and kittle... if so the outside will open up for Aiyuk and deebo

SF was lucky to get past Dallas................ and Dak isn't qb this week.

Iggs roll and cover.

Bungles continue to have KC's #, win a close one.

Tough game no doubt but, SF was never in any real danger of losing. A fumbled punt is the only reason it was even perceived as close.

This week is a different story.

just remember, the 49ers were lucky to hold dak to 200 yds (46 to lamb on one play) and their two backs to 48... or that dallas just didn't play well.  49ers had no impact on that whatsoever.

forgot to mention my thought on purdy... he really needs to correct his habit of scrambling backwards (and to the left).  he has gotten away with it thus far, but philly d-line is quicker than most and will bring him down when he does that.

I'll take the two home favoirites -Eagles and Chiefs - given the small point spread.

There is only one man that can save us from having to see Patrick Mahomes' f@ggot little brother and ###### of a wife on television during the Super Bowl. His name is Joe Burrow.

I'm a non-Californian Niners fan (a very long time ... very) and see that the Eagles defense seems to be susceptible to the run.

I wonder if Shanahan might pull a Belicheck and run it all but one play ...

That would be awesome.  Boring ... but awesome.

i feel sure Mahomes will win multiple rings tho.  He really is that special.  Just doesn't have to be this year.  His window is huge.  Montana won 4 at age 25, 28, 32 and 33.  Mahomes won it at 24.  He's 27 now.

Yahoo has a panel of NFL pundits.  They are posting stellar records in predicting the NFL playoffs.  9-1, 10-0, 7-3, 8-2.  All are picking the Chiefs to win.  3 of 4 are picking the Eagles in the other conference.  The one picking the 49ers is the 9-1 guy.  I've picked 49ers-Bengals which is not any of their picks but I've selected 2 road teams which is probably not a good idea.

the last time the #1 seeds met recently:

2017 when the Eagles beat the Patriots.
2015 when the Broncos beat the Panthers.
2014 when the Patriots beat the Seahawks.
2013 when the Seahawks beat the Broncos.
2009 when the Saints beat the Colts.

recent super bowls:

2018 2v2
2019 1v2
2020 1v5
2021 4v4

super bowls without a #1 seed making it:

2021 4v4
2018 2v2
2012 2v4
2010 2v6
2008 2v4
1997 2v4
1992 2v4
1980 2v4
1979 2v3

interestingly, last year's Bengals / Rams game was the first time that neither a 1 or 2 seed made it.
