Does Adrian Monk count?  If not, I will go with Richard Castle since he did get PI license later on in the show...

Ronald “Mac” McDonald. He has the ability to do an ocular pat down.

And how do you leave Jill Munroe off that list? Queer.

I'm gonna say Frank Drebin and defend it by saying its certainly possible that he was oblivious to the fact that he wasnt a PI.

Went with Rockford from the list.  I never watched Magnum, although the timing should have been in my wheelhouse, so I don't know why.

Magnum PI was a straight pimp. He got all the good Hawaiian tail. Sometimes he would even let the helicopter dude join in. Magnum was cool as F

Oh my gosh yeah, Rockford was just cool as hell. F***** could pull off a checkered sport jacket like nobody's business.  I can hear the theme song playing in my head right now.

I guarantee you that lethal weapon stole that whole living in a trailer by the beach thing straight from Jim Rockford! 🤬

Laura Holt from Remington Steele.

My second cousin was a writer for the show and at the time Stephanie Zimbalist's best friend. As a kid, I wrote the show, and never heard back. Mom called cousin, cousin talked to Stephanie and then she wrote me a real letter and sent me a signed picture.

Mute this before playing, you've been warned.

Does Kolchak count?  He was a reporter but he investigated things.

You know, a lot of people think that Buffy was strictly on vampire kind of gal. But she fought other bad guys too.

Although it was before my time, I'll go with Peter Gunn, the 50s TV series, where Gunn is a PI who hangs out in a cool jazz club (with music provided by Henry Mancini) and meets his clients there. It was shot in black and white, film noir style and some episodes can be found in their entirety (less commercials) on YouTube.
