Not uncommon among people who are afraid they're about to die. Has happened with soldiers on the battlefield countless times. 

This video is some pretty focked-up stuff. These cops need to do prison time for this.

Yes 4 of them have been charged with murder. 
 

And I agree: usually riots and violence occur only AFTER there is a clear injustice- the police aren’t arrested, or they are acquitted (as in the case of Rodney King.) 

Hopefully there will only be peaceful protests.

He was pulled over for alleged reckless driving, at which point the first confrontation occurred. A second confrontation took place after Mr Nichols fled on foot, and officers caught up with and tried to arrest him.

Running from and fighting against the police is such a common theme in these cases. Why don't they just learn and let a lawyer handle their cases after they get arrested?

I saw nothing wrong with the first encounter.  In the second encounter, the kick to the face and close fist strikes to the head were not appropriate police tactics for the scenario. Close fist strikes and kicks to the head are lethal force, which this didn't appear to rise to.  Several cops are talking about him going for a gun, but the video doesn’t show that.  I was expecting to see more asp strikes.  Even though the asp strikes seemed OK, saying “I’m gonna baton the fuk out of you” probably isn’t in policy. Also, every cop is well aware of positional asphyxia.  I’m not a fan of how he was allowed to be positioned after being cuffed.  I’m very curios about autopsy results.  Depending on cause of death, I’m guessing the head strikes/kicks are enough to get some convictions.
