BOSTON -- A fan who scaled the glass at Boston Garden and walked on the ice during a Boston Bruins game pleaded innocent Monday to disorderly conduct charges, officials said.

Frank Barbaro Jr. was released on $500 bail following arraignment in Boston Municipal Court, said David Rodman, a spokesman for the Suffolk County district attorney's office.

 

The case was continued to Feb. 27.

Barbaro was arrested Saturday after he scaled the glass at Boston Garden and went on the ice during a game between the Bruins and the Winnipeg Jets. Barbaro began walking toward referee Bill McCreary, who had angered fans by not calling a penalty on Paul Fenton after the Winnipeg player's stick hit Boston's Glen Wesley in the face.

A linesman intervened, knocking Barbaro head-first into the boards before he could reach the referee.

All three television network affiliates ran footage of the incident.

Police said Barbaro was held for two days following his arrest because a background check revealed an outstanding default warrant.

See this is why television shouldn't cut away when this happens.  You see this a few times, you see a fan get laid out by a 300 pound defensive end and it makes everyone else think twice before they do it.  Heck, they should show a greatest hits of idiots getting laid out before the drop of every puck, coin toss, first pitch as a PSA.
