The Moon is straight up overhead here in the DMV

Recommended Posts

And I honestly don't remember it being that way.  Now, I'm no young pup .. I've been around for a few ice cream seasons but I remember always seeing the Moon at approx. 45 degrees.  Anybody got a smartazz remark to make about me concerning this ?

Did you make that up?

My ex wife grew up in Arlington not far from Key Bridge and my former sister in-law lived in Arlington as an adult for 12 years and I have never heard anyone call the area DMV.

Nah, that term has been around for at least 40 years.   It stands for Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. People use it differently depending on their location and the topic at hand.

I thought that was Delmarva?

But your last statement is very accurate…

Not Delaware !  You're thinking of the DelMarVa penninsula.  THAT's different.

You are right! I was thinking of the wrong term! It's DC Md Va...and people usually use it when talking about weather or traffic, since its such a small area with tons of sh!t happening....

I dont think that's possible.  The earth's tilt of 23.5 degrees and the moons tilt in relation to us of 5 degrees puts it overhead at about the 28th parallel. In other words it would only happen in southern Florida and the tip of Texas.  Anybody in South Florida concur?  45 degrees seems about right for you without doing the math. At the poles it's always along the horizon.

The reason the moon appears to be right above you as opposed to at an angle? It's because just like the 1962 prom, you're flat on your bedsore ridden whoarish back.

Stand up you floozy.

The angle of the dangle is inversely proportional to the heat of the meat.

Well, you were definitely conceived there. It's a shame really. If only your mom knew how to parallel park.

I learned that since my backyard fence blew over a week or so ago that my neighbor there owns / has multiple kittehs that are now invading my yard
I need to start setting traps for them.

By setting traps, I mean kitteh treats to lure them into my bedroom at night. It's been so long since I got to fall asleep with a purring kat in my bed. :(

Perhaps it's an optical illusion.  Have your surroundings changed?. Some high rise buildings to the north of you?

If you listen to morning news radio, for DC, they use it liberally.
