Having people vaxed was def worth the investment, you disagree?

”Biolabs all over world” we can look at and reevaluate.

Do you think putting money in research is worth the investment?

I’m for it just so the student loans have to start to be repaid soon. Unless the Supreme Court gets stupid. Which is possible with a eunuch like Roberts in charge.

Yes. Invest in big pharma. All the time. Give them all our money. They know what’s bestest. Meanwhile they continue to criminalize cannabis and psilocybin. Things that can actually help people

and no I do not think the govt should be investing in research. They are private companies for profit

I am with you on weed and mushrooms if you want to do it, have at it. Those will need to be regulated by the big, bad government though and I suspect if there’s money to be made big biz is going to get in on it at some point.

Lots of good comes out of our big Pharmaceutical companies but they are certainly not infallible and like all big business will have a certain amount of greed.

Overall however they are a huge net positive.

I disagree on investing in research. I tend to prefer to do this via tax incentives versus just giving money. Not sure what spending you are upset with so can’t really comment on it.

Biden has apparently pulled quite the deal off here. The senile guy has done it again!

The uncompromising far-right whack jobs are still doing their thing, but as I pointed out more than two years, the centrist movement is gaining strength and reacting to the actions of the extremes.

McCarthy inadvertently raised a good question tonight. He was arguing that this bill reduces spending (not at all sure that’s true) and then pointed out that when Republicans had control of the House, Senate, and Presidency, they didn’t cut any spending.

He’s right about that. In 2017-2018, Trump was President and Republicans had majorities in House and Senate. The Speaker was a fiscal conservative, Paul Ryan, and he and McConnell had long pushed for spending cuts in order to deal with the annual deficit. Both men were heavily tied to Grover Norquist, who said he wanted to shrink the size of government spending down to where he could “drown it in a bathtub.” Trump was certainly NOT a fiscal conservative but it’s likely he would have gone along with whatever Ryan and McConnell proposed.

And they did…nothing. They made a half-hearted attempt to repeal Obamacare, but didn’t. And no other cuts. Instead they cut taxes. And that was all. So why didn’t they cut spending when they had the chance?

Because of Democrats, the deep state, wokeness, Hillary’s emails, and Jewish space lasers.

McCain screwed us on Obamacare.

Everything else I can agree with. Conservatives don't want to cut spending. Neither do the Democrats. Only difference between the two is Democrats seem to raise my taxes more than cons.

The only outcome that would bring any legitimate value is to cut spending, sadly all we will do is continue to build the mechanism for the eventual destruction of this nation.

They won’t vote for it as well as the republican extremists. There are enough votes in the middle.

Isn’t this what everyone is always asking for?
