I don't think a school should influence it but I think a school should provide an atmosphere that makes a child feel comfortable being who they are.

Schooling is all about suppressing who a child is.  It is about breaking them, teaching them to wait their turn, stand in and respect lines, and to accept thenidiocy of society.

What is a public school’s role in influencing a child’s sexuality?

A Disney movie is not going to turn your kid gay.

Is this really what you want, Florida? Do you believe you can make homosexuality go away by pretending to kids that it doesn’t exist?

Yep. That’s EXACTLY what we want. Don’t like it? Go cry some more in the unemployment line like you do anyways 😂

Comfortable in being who they are?  U mean juvenile human beings?  That’s who they are, right?  I’m guessing most every school can succeed in that without addressing sexual orientation.

Fifth graders whose parent's signed permission slips.  I'm O.K. with this.  Maybe the complaining parent should have googled the movie before signing the  permission slip.

What makes you think that the parent actually signed it?  The kid could have done it...

Some of these juveniles are still trying to figure out who they are.  Some are gay, or bisexual or just don't know what they are yet.  I don't want them to be groomed to be what they are not but I want them to feel comfortable being themselves when they go to school.

So school have to address sexual orientation for people to be comfortable? What would be happening to make them uncomfortable?  Also, comfortable is a way to subjective word to include in a conversation like this

I would say that seeing a movie where the characters are accepted as being gay would make a person feel comfortable.  Acknowledging that it's ok to be gay is a good thing.

She's a wokie.  Apparently not showing gay characters "is ruining everything"

Wow.  That’s the schools job?  To acknowledge that it’s OK to be gay?

I like how this Disney movie is “LGBT-themed” by virtue of having a gay character.

Wow.  I can see why some of the bored libs don't even send their kids to public schools.

I didn't say it was their job.  I just think it's important.

I thought it was weird to, but then I listened to her talk and apparently it's important to her to be able to show gay characters in school.

Yeah, I know.  We watched movies in class.  It's a pretty normal thing all across the country and in all grades.  What world are you living in?

The post pandemic one where kids have fallen way behind.  Movies aren’t going to help catch them up.  They saw plenty of movies when the teachers union kept them out of school unnecessarily.

That says something about the teacher but not the movie.

Our kids are not behind here.  It's perfectly normal to have a fun day and watch a movie.  Some classes have them for educational purposes too.  I remember watching Outbreak, Glory and Tora! Tora! Tora! in high school.  My wife has a movie day a few times a year for her middle schoolers too.  Perfectly normal.

So stupid.   An example of how one side has lost their damn mind.

The other is in her video when she said parents lose their rights sending kids to public school, so plenty to go around I guess.

This seems like an overreaction to me. But liberals set the stage for this with their own approach to the world

As I have said over and over…..it might feel good to liberals to make some point today, but what happens when it is turned back on you

All this cancel culture nonsense created by liberals is divisive and making us ruthless toward each other. Liberals have normalized nasty…

Well at least you agree it’s an “overreaction”. But of course you manage to blame liberals: “you made us become irrational!!”

The problem with your approach here is that at least 5 other people here who share your conservative political convictions have posted that this is exactly what they want in reply to my question. They don’t regard it as an “overreaction”; this is their goal. Kind of hard to blame liberals when that is the case.

I wrote once here that if a transsexual was physically attractive to me, and if I was a single man, theoretically I would have no problem having sex with her. Lots of caveats there. But basically the point I was trying to make is that if they’ve had the operation and they look just like women then to me they are women.

How that translates into me watching tranny porn (I’m not even sure what that is) escapes me.

I wonder if the kids In Baltimore that can’t read or do basic math get to watch movies? I bet they do.

The Fox and the Hound featured a trans-species attraction or friendship.  Pretty racy stuff really as the same sex but different specie charactures frolick together.

Snow White lived with seven men and can be seen sexually exciting one who is cognitively impaired.

Mulan was a cross dresser.

Many of their films feature witchcraft but perhaps the most disturbing is Alladin who uses magic to stalk a hottie.

OOH! OOH! Beauty and Beast glorifies beastiality.

I know I'd definitely prefer to fock the beast than the prince at end, he was too pretty.

Your kids there have an obesity problem. Take them out for a run and some exercise instead of watching movies.

All three of those would now draw outrage from the Right.

No, I wouldn't.  This is not the equivalent.  I wouldn't care if it was a movie that featured a religious person, which is basically what we are talking about here - a kid movie that happened to have a gay character.

The gay character and woke themes was the whole purpose of the selection.  I hope this lady does not teach class by showing movies everyday.

If you want to control your kids thoughts, homeschool them, get them away from other kids and technology, and get them into a strict Christian church.

Well, HT is all pissy that any movies are shown in the classroom.  I guess he just wants everyone to be as miserable as him.

That is very transphobic of you.  Why do they require an operation?   The 'science' says she is a woman if she thinks she is a woman.  You better be able to go down on her and enjoy her womanhood regardless of what you find.

Iowa sits right about at the average for the nation.  The most obese states are in the Southeast.

Average in a fat country. Nice work Hawkeye.

It’s ok end of the year if it’s raining, or as a reward. But as with everything on the left, give an inch they take a mile.

So then everyone is obese?  What the hell is the point you're trying to make then?  I don't think this is the dig you think it is.  Take a break from the grumpy old man routine.

You’re right. Public education in the United States is doing great if you take out the math, reading and science.
