....The unhinged Manhattan college professor who went viral for cursing out anti-abortion students shockingly held a machete to a Post reporter’s neck Tuesday — and made wild threats that she was going to “chop” him up. Shellyne Rodriguez spewed the menacing remarks when The Post knocked on the door of her Bronx apartment Tuesday morning — a day after she made headlines for flipping out on pro-life students at Hunter College....

“Get the f–k away from my door, or I’m gonna chop you up with this machete!” the manic adjunct art professor shouted from behind her closed door just moments after veteran reporter Reuven Fenton identified himself. Seconds later, Rodriguez barged out and alarmingly put the blade to the reporter’s neck.

“Get the f–k away from my door! Get the f–k away from my door!” she raged before retreating back into her apartment and slamming the door....

“Get the f–k off the block! Get the f–k out of here, yo!” The professor briefly chased The Post’s photographer down the street to his car before coming back to kick the reporter in the shins. She finally retreated into her building just moments later.

Vince DiMiceli, a spokesman for Hunter College, told The Post Tuesday afternoon that Rodriguez had been fired....“Hunter College strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez and has taken immediate action,” he said. “Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately, and will not be returning to teach at the school.”

The terrifying ordeal unfolded after footage surfaced online that showed Rodriguez unleashing a profanity-laden attack on anti-abortion students who’d set up an information table at Hunter College earlier this month. Rodriguez shouted the menacing remarks a day after she made headlines for flipping out on pro-life students inside Hunter College in a now-viral video.
 “You’re not educating s–t. This is f–king propaganda,” the art professor hissed to the students in the May 2 incident. “What are you going to do, like, anti-trans next?” A male student behind the table was filmed telling her, “I mean, no, we’re talking about abortion” and that he was sorry about “triggering” her students.... Rodriguez fired back, telling the male student he couldn’t be sorry “because you can’t even have a f–king baby.”

A rep for Hunter College, a public school that is part of the city’s CUNY program.... is “taking this matter very seriously....The provost has opened an investigation into the professor’s actions...”

Hunter College, a public college that is part of the city’s CUNY program, confirmed that Rodriguez works at the school and said it is aware of the altercation.... told the outlet that (they were) “taking this matter very seriously.”

The PSC Graduate Center, a labor union chapter representing CUNY professors and graduate assistants, said it stands by Rodriguez “against right-wing anti-abortion backlash” and added that her actions were justified....The center said the pro-life students “set up a table and prominent banners to propagate dangerously false propaganda.”...“Her actions to shut down the tabling were fully justified, and are part of a long and celebrated CUNY legacy of confronting groups such as military recruiters who disseminate misleading information,” the group said in a letter of support....

Shellyne Rodriguez (born 1977) is an American visual artist, organizer, and former professor based in the Bronx, New York City.[1][2]

Education - Rodriguez graduated with a BFA in Visual & Critical Studies from the School of Visual Arts in 2011 and an MFA in Fine Art from CUNY Hunter College in 2014.[2]

Rodriguez is a self-described "black Marxist".[3]

Artistic practice - In 2014, Rodriguez attended the Shandaken Project Residency in Catskills, NY.[4] In 2015, she was the Artist-in-Residence in the Sculpture department at Hunter College, NY.[5] In 2017, Rodriguez collaborated with MoMA to create the Night Studio program a free, six-week art class for NYC residents currently in the process of taking the TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion, formerly the GED).[6] In 2018, Rodriguez was awarded the Percent for Art public sculpture commission to create a permanent public sculpture in the Bronx NY. Shellyne has stated that the sculpture will serve as "a monument to the people of the Bronx."[7] In 2018, the Whitney released a video by Rodriguez where she responds and discusses Ja'Tovia Gary's film An Ecstatic Experience.[8]

In 2019, Shellyne Rodriguez became the inaugural artist-in-residence at The Latinx Project, an initiative based at NYU that is dedicated to Latinx studies.[9] While at the Latinx Project, Rodriguez curated a show with the curatorial team focused around the ideas of displacement and how it affects the Latinx population in New York. The show included pieces by Rodriguez, Alicia Grullón, and anti-gentrification group Mi Casa No es Su Casa.[9]

Community organizing - Shellyne is also a community organizer and an active member of the grassroots collective Take Back the Bronx.[2] In March 2019, Rodriguez joined a group of latinx scholars, artists, and activists in penning and signing a letter to El Museo del Barrio demanding change at the East Harlem institution.[15] Rodriguez is a member of Decolonize This Place and spoke at the Safariland protests at the Whitney Museum of American Art in May 2019.[16]

As a black Marxist, I am not content with being one of three black comrades in the room. The Black Radical Tradition is so rich in the U.S. and yet, for some reason, the political spaces I have encountered continue to be very white. I understand fully that there are many substantial reasons for this, but I refuse to throw my hands up about it. .... I wondered about this dismissive attitude towards people who were still struggling with the concept of race while living through this particular political moment: a racist backlash to a black president, a rise of a reactionary far right, the urgent need for a Black Lives Matter movement as a result of an onslaught of police killings, a reactionary Blue Lives Matter countermovement by the police state and a president Trump....

...My understanding of antiblackness is shaped as a Puerto Rican woman of African descent. While I am a light skin woman, I possess features that make me identifiable as a black woman. Black Americans from the south call this “high Yellow” and in the Spanish speaking Antilles (Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic) this is called Jabao. My hair in my experience has been the determining factor in how this plays out. My mother, who is also jabao, began chemically straightening my hair when I was six. My grandmother who is very white-passing commented on my nappy hair almost daily. This is despite the fact that my grandfather, her husband and the father of her five children, was the color of ebony and the source of my thick unruly hair. Indeed, my grandmother has always been antiblack, although she denies it. I have no doubt that my grandmother loves all of her grandchildren, most of whom are visibly black, but that does not make this 78 year old jibara exempt from what is a violent colonial structure that predates her. Still, there are an infinite amount of instances where the darker child is rejected while the lighter skin child is favored. In my family, there is a mythical Tia Rosa, my grandfather’s oldest sister, who was able to pass. My grandfather’s mother, an African woman, raised this daughter and gave her everything, sending my grandfather off to work at the age of six to provide for her. When she came of age, she wanted to leave Puerto Rico, and so they sent her to New York.She never returned, rejecting the blackness of her family and disappearing into a world that would never know her African roots, leaving them deeply wounded...

1) The point of college is for young people to exchange ideas, even controversial ones, to learn about themselves and understand their place in the world. Rodriguez and her attacks are a tacit admission of pure surrender from practical debate on controversial issues. And as an "educator",  Rodriguez had a duty to set an example for these students. Debate hones your position and allows you to defend your viewpoints with strength. You don't achieve that by silencing others for the crime of having different values and viewpoints than you do. 

2) A small subsection of those with "Progressive" viewpoints that resorts to violence should NOT be seen as representative of all Progressives in the country

3) Words are not violence because you disagree. You can't just make that up.

The original test was done in Trinidad, with a handful of kids split into two groups, East Indians and Africans.  And what he observed was that the east Indian kids delayed gratification more than the African kids.  He theorized that this was due to lack of trust, and the fact that most of the African kids didn't have a father in the house.  So he repeated the test with only kids that had fathers in the house and there was no difference.  It's all in the link.

The Stanford study wasn't about race, and neither were any of the others.  Applying rigorous scientific controls, the original Stanford study was deemed flawed and debunked.
