Scottie Pippen 'look at me'

Scottie Pippen: Michael Jordan was a 'horrible player' before he joined

"I've seen Michael Jordan play before I came to the Bulls. You guys have seen him play. He was a horrible player," Pippen said on the Gimme the Hot Sauce! podcast. "He was horrible to play with. It was all 1-on-1, shooting bad shots. All of a sudden, we become a team and we start winning. Everybody forgot who he was. He was a player who was really not at the top of his category."

Pippen may have a point.  Prior to the '87-88 season, Jordan took more shots, made less, and had fewer assists per game.  Nor did they have a winning record in any of those 3 years and got knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.  Pippen's rookie season, the '87-88 campaign, was the first time Jordan's team had a winning record and got out of the first round.  The following year, when Pippen started every game, was the first of 6 straight championship seasons where they both played together.  In the two years in between, without Jordan, the Bulls had winning seasons and made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Jordan wads hyped early because he could jump out of the gym ala Ja Morant now.  It was not until he developed a reliable 15 foot jumper from the elbow and he bulked up his shoulders noticeably taht he started winning.  That coincided with the arrival of Pippen, but was not due to the arrival of Pippen.

Something tells me that if Pippin and Jordan never played on the same team? We still know who Michael Jordan is. Pippen? Not so much.

I met him in bar after an exhibition game at The Superdome. At bar Walter bought. I was a diehard Bulls fan. Fawking die hard!!! I’m ordering drinks and there he is. He, in person, looks like a maco shark wearing a five thousand bucks suit. Me: I’m 6’3 and you’re 6’7. My wing span is an inch shorter on each arm and your hands much bigger.    He looked at me like I was crazy.   Me: Love you Pip. Where Horace???

I think that mindset often comes with the race, no matter how rich some of them get.

He is an idiot.   Barkley took a big pay cut to bring Pippen to Houston.   Pippin did not like Houston's style of play so he threw Barkley under the bus to force a trade.  He is a focking idiot that was lucky to live in Jordon's shadow.

Um no.... your timeline is off. Detroit won in 89 and 90. Chicago was a bug on the windshield, one of the forgettable lesser teams you eliminated before you played the Celtics.

As for Jordan, Chuck Daly schemed his "Jordan rules" as a total team effort to stifle him with future Hall of Famers Joe Dumars and Dennis Rodman alternating as the shadow.

You know what's interesting? Nobody, including black players who tend to be pretty racist about basketball, nobody  I've ever heard from the NBA has ever had a bad thing to say about Larry Bird.
