If you think saying “what’s the worst that could happen” is offensive then you sir are a snowflake.

You said the left was trying to kill Trump.  At least prior to 2020, the guy who came the closest was MAGA.  This is documented fact, in fact it was actually Dems that he wanted to kill.

Yep…you are too far mentally gone….therefore POOF…you gone.

Oh, hold on I must not have hit the button to put you on Ignore. But here make sure you update your profile. I’m just gonna laugh and say OK yep you’re right. And you’re still on ignore. Go away.

Now replace Trump with Obama going to the theatre. See how it's not funny?

Based on available information regarding Saturday Night Live's history, there are no prominent or widely reported instances of the show making jokes about the assassination of Barack Obama or Joe Biden during their presidencies.

It's still funny with Obama's name or Biden's.

The empathy police have decided that even though the left keeps trying to assassinate him in real life, making jokes about it is just fine. I’m sure his family and his grandkids think it’s hilarious.

True or False- there was a US president shot in a theater.

I mean you are getting upset about a joke being made in reference to an historical event. You could literally make the exact same joke about any President since then. It would still be funny regardless of the name.

I'm sure John McCain's family and grandkids were perfectly fine with it when Trump was making comments and jokes about him. I'm sure Paul Pelosi's family was super cool with it too when Trump mocked him almost being killed. Were you outraged then too?

No, it doesn’t really work with any president because we didn’t have people trying to assassinate Obama left and right. Trump actually took a freaking bullet to the ear FFS in making a joke about getting assassinated after it’s been attempted multiple times and smiling like he hopes it happens? Yeah that’s pretty ridiculous.

lol paul pelosi? Hey when’s the last time you saw a cop deal with an intruder to a home like that where they both answer the door together?  What bizarre logic anyway. Do you determine your behavior because of how someone you don’t know that’s the president act? It’s so bizarre to me. Well, I perceived this as bad behavior from the president of the United States. Therefore, I can act anyway I want to? Odd

It's a joke about a President in a theater. Again- was there a President shot in a theater in history?...geez- you are being a snowflake.

Also, you are the one who drew the line that Trump's family and grandkids probably didn't find it funny. I pointed out that Trump has made fun of people who were in potential mortal danger or who were attacked and had attempts on them. So your line of defense holds zero water for me.

Lastly, it's a joke. I thought we were supposed to just let jokes be jokes and stop being so sensitive about everything.

Don’t be obtuse. It’s a assassination joke that alludes to what’s the worst that could happen and that’s about a president getting killed by assassination. Who’s been attempted assassinated multiple multiple times.

Like I said, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. The behavior so normalized we can barely get through one trial of someone. I didn’t even know tried to assassinate him before we have another person arrested for a plot to do it. It’s been normalized to the point where you can just make veiled jokes about it and say oh they’re just jokes. Crazy

Dude you made it that the joke was bad because "I'm sure Trump's family and grandkids didn't find it funny."  I pointed out the multiple times that Trump has mocked people- including someone who was in mortal danger and you're response is "Well wait now....let me backpedal for a few posts." (paraphrased obviously)

My liking the joke has nothing to do with it being Trump adjacent. I said the joke is funny regardless of whose name is in it. Furthermore, it's about a President being shot in a theater based off something that legitimately happened.

C'mon man. Just own up to it.

What are you rambling about? Didn’t backpedal on anything. The joke makes no sense if you don’t use Trump in it. Obama’s gonna go to a play and what’s the worst that could happen?

No, it’s a liberal show that hates Trump and  it’s a completely tacky subject to joke about when it’s actually been happening to him.

Again, I’m not surprised you guys find it funny. I’ll say it again this kind of behavior has been normalized by the left. Heck joking about it you guys won’t even bat an eye at. Heck you barely bat an eye when he does get shot at.

weird people. And I’m a huge SNL fan, but there really is no low for the left.

I want you to write out the punchline for that joke and then I’m going to point how the joke is wishing the president of my country is assassinated. That’s what snl and their audience and you find funny.

The punchline is “what’s the worst that could happen.”  It’s saying the worst that  could happen is he gets killed.  It’s not wishing that happens.  HTH

"President Trump attended the opening night of Chicago at the Kennedy Center, and I think that's cool. The president is going to the theater, I mean, what's the worst that can happen?"

Now let's clutch pearls like a bunch of snowflakes over a joke about a historical event. And say "I'm sure his family didn't find it funny" and then backpedal like crazy when pressed on that.

Ha well yeah, but I’m not using it in a setting talking about Trump getting assassinated…

I mean, SNL has really come a long ways down in this department where it used to be just lighthearted, jabbing like doing an impersonation of bush by Dana Carvey. It was lighthearted. It was fun. It wasn’t malicious. Now they are making fun of the president getting assassinated, tying it to a play where a president is assassinated and joking oh, what’s the worst that could happen almost in a hope it does kind of way I just think is below board.

Justify it all you want, but SNL basically repackaged the same joke. In this case I think you've fallen victim to one of the worst things the left has ever foisted upon us: being offended at everything.

I wouldn’t say offended is the right word I just think it’s tacky. And when I’m saying it, I’m saying it like something like you missed the plane for your vacation so you drove, but the car broke down but then once you got there, they didn’t have your room ready and it was just a brutal experience except for the hour you spent on the beach. But other than that, Mrs Lincoln how was the play?

I don’t think that’s in the same ballpark as Oh gee I wonder what the worst that could happen is at a play when you’re saying it towards a president you don’t like that’s been assassinated attempted numerous times. I don’t even mind all the anti-conservative stuff. I just kind of roll my eyes because it’s childish and petty but whatever but I just thought this was a little below the belt.

JFC, all he said was “he’s going to the theater, what’s the worst that could happen?”   There’s not even any actual mention of Lincoln, or dying, and certainly no “hope.”  That’s all in your righty heads.

I am sure for a small percentage of folks the line came out as wishcasting.  I am not big on bowing to the sensibilities of the small percentage of folks.  For the rest of us was it a hope Trump would get assassinated or was it criticism about the nearly funny stupidity of a president attending such an event where there is historical precedence it is a dangerous decision?  To me, I don't know.  I found it a bit off color but I also find Trumps habit of attending more public events than most presidents to be courting danger. In the final analysis I defend the right of folks to be off color and to offend.  I just wish that rule was universal and not subject to political correctness which is to say hypocracy in application.

tim... this is a reference to Lincoln going to the theater.

i personally do not think this was said out of wish fulfillment. i found it mildly funny, but would not take offense if said about any president.

SNL has a used political satire throughout it's existence and has poked at all of them, eternally pushing the envelop.  this is their status quo and imo pretty mild vs other skits they have don (chevy chase & richard pryor; chris rock; the bit with chea & jost, etc.)

Yes, obviously the joke was about Lincoln.  But I don’t see how you can be mad about it since he didn’t even say it.   And there was certainly no “wishing” it.  This is probably worse than when the righties got all mad about the number 86.
