A few years back I got stuck next to him on a flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Philadelphia. 

He was nothing like the character he portrayed. He was a cool dude, RIP Mr. Simmons.

Yeah, his character was creepy. I don't know why the schtick but I guess it made him popular somehow

I saw odd, but not creepy in that guy. Rogers was more creepy. It was actually a surprise to find out he was an insane good guy. One of my directors and his girlfreind years ago were asked onto Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and he confirmed that Fred was class A dude. But later, that was confirmed by the rest of the world.

Just learned he celebrated 76th birthday yesterday, and stated then that he was just glad to be alive to see another day. Jeez. They still don't know how he died but no thoughts of foul play.
