You continue to add new layers to your ignorance cake and refuse to view links to factual information. You rely on obscure extremist  misinformation instead of unbiased sources that report facts. When I learned about Feast of Dionysus is irrelevant, although I've been to art museums all over the world while the extent of your cultural experiences is limited to posting here all day every day.

You've taken "stick around and you might learn something" way too seriously.

I'm right. Those seeking butt hurt are more apt to find or create it, and you and your ilk are no exception.

Other countries don't laugh at the liberal aspects of our society. They laugh at MAGA, a worldwide ideological joke. That was the Feast of Dionysus, and no volume of lame memes and X posts will disprove that. Grow a brain, one that can think for itself.

yea the feast of dionysius. you know how retarded you sound?

I’d suggest keeping the outrage over 30 seconds of a 4 hour ceremony to the other thread and keeping this one about the actual sports, but to each their own

Unfortunately with most here, that can’t happen…

Go read up on it instead generating butt hurt for yourself. The blue dude actually was depicting Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. The Olympics starred in Greece, but go on with believing that the depiction was mocking a 500-year-old painting that isn't considered a canon instead of the fact that this was an artistic connection to Greek mythology and feasting rituals. Never mind a connection to the painting makes zero sense.

I don’t think that is what they were imitating. I read that it was something else. Maybe they’re backpedalling?

The problem is they won't take the time to using this crazy thing called Google to read up on facts and use those to develop educated opinions instead of ignorantly making assumptions that fit their uninformed paradigms.

it was the Feast of the Gods by Jan someone or the other.

Explanation, sorta:

“There is Dionysus who arrives on this table. He is there because he is the God of celebration in Greek mythology,” Jolly said. “The idea was to have a pagan celebration connected to the gods of Olympus. You will never find in me a desire to mock and denigrate anyone.”

Not surprising that art doesn't fall within your intellectual wheelhouse and that people different from yourself trigger your toxic masculinity.

Here is a list of celebrities who have dressed in drag:

Rudy Giuliani

Milton Berl (In a Ratt video, of all things.)

Robin Williams

Tyler Perry

Jack Lemmon

John Travolta

Dustin Hoffman

Tom Hanks

Jared Leto

Martin Lawrence

Tony Curtis

The dude in blue was playing Dionysus, Greek god of wine.

The table of people was depicting the Feast of Dionysus, a nod to the mythology of Greece, where the Olympics started.

Now doesn't that make more sense for Olympic opening ceremonies than mocking a 500-year-old painting that inaccurately portrays Jesus as white and is not considered a religious object?

But keep it up with the intolerance and ignorance. Provides me with a target-rich environment day after day.

I had to take an art history elective in college. Had I not taken that class I probably would've thought it was mocking The Last Supper too. Of course I would have had to ignore all the other tributes to French history and ignore that there are connections between Dionysus and the French culture and Olympic games...but again- I know that is getting much further into actually reading and researching stuff than you ever go.

The difference is my default wouldn't have been "ROAR! MAH OUTRAGE!!!!" It would've been "Well that was stupid" (as pretty much all Olympics opening and closing ceremony stuff is.

:dunno:

How about the two main cast characters saying it was mimicking the Last Supper?  And the Producers of the show?  Are they art majors? 😆

Not getting involved in this argument, I just find it so Geek Club that I open a thread about the Olympics and this is the first new post I read.  This place forever cracks me up.

Back to the topic at hand and continuing my Olympics are the Ocho.  I watched handball, Field hockey, Equestrian riding, water polo, rugby and fencing over the weekend. There are some crazy sports out there.

How about the artistic director: "“There is Dionysus who arrives on this table. He is there because he is the God of celebration in Greek mythology,” Jolly said. “The idea was to have a pagan celebration connected to the gods of Olympus. You will never find in me a desire to mock and denigrate anyone.”"

Or the Olympics account that talked about Dionysus as it was happening.

Yes, it was about Dionysus as well.  I think they were trying to marry Christianity with Paganism.  Twisted way of being inclusive I guess.

But the Last Supper imagery was clear and inescapable.

The Olympics are so proud of the events mentioned here that they are scrubbing the video from all official accounts.

Keep jumping through those hoops defending this garbage fellas, your comrades appreciate it.

Imagine being so mad about a minute of the opening ceremony that you decide not to watch any of the Olympics. Some people need to step outside and touch grass, as the kids say.

You live in New York.

Have you been to any of the museums in NYC? Have you ever been to a museum?

I've been to at least a half dozen NYC museums.

Mocking those who have been to museums and are educated in arts just makes you look even less intelligent.

But alas, ignorance remains bliss in the narrow world in which you live, too much of it spent here, lowering the average IQ on an hourly basis.

I read that and a couple of other Dan Brown books before concluding that he's a formulaic hack who goes too far in testing the willing suspension of disbelief.

What's the last book you read?

Nope, never. I did see the movie though- it was "mid" as the kids would say. I do appreciate though you continuing to show how uncultured you are.
