JagFan 124 Posted September 4 Looks like most FF sites give a post draft recap and grades each team.  Yahoo never likes my drafts, but this year I finally achieved a grade of F, and projected record of 0-14-0! . I don’t put a whole lot of stock in it, but wow!  Guess we’ll see how the season goes.  Curious how some more of you long timers/FFers grade out.  And by the way, I lean very heavily on the PPR rankings here on FFToday which have always done me right.  So thank you Mike and the FFToday staff! 1
gcmmidwest 121 Posted September 4 Got a d-  lol I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me even a little... It just has me 2nd guessing myself but all & all there clueless
jrokh 585 Posted September 4 I got a B+ from CBS but it scolded me for picking Gibbs over Barkley, Mcbride over Andrews and Ridley over Pickens. What was your team that got an F?

BuschWack 58 Posted September 4 I got an A. I'm worried.
plasma george 57 Posted September 4 I got a D- last year immediately after the Draft, and got my balls busted by league mates, I started 5-1 and #1 in Total Points. Â
Phil Simms 11 133 Posted September 4 From A to D, depending on the league. Fun to look at but little relation to how good your team will be.

defectivesupport 8 Posted September 4 yahoo grades directly off their xrank vs where you picked them. If you didn't follow yahoo xrank, you will get a worse grade. I know I usually get docked for picking players round 10+ that aren't their pick of the litter. Our running joke is that if yahoo ranks you 1st out of the draft, you have zero chance to win the league.

Yeah, and if I followed all the yahoo rankings I'd lose my pool. I really dont care if Yahoo ranks me badly. I can make a far better ranking system than anything Yahoo has got. there is a better ranking system here on fftoday if you care to look. while its not perfect its a whole lot more than anything yahoo has (or ever will have)

Ray_T 687 Posted September 5 yahoo also does not value breakout candidates very well. they project based on previous years stats for the most part.  so if picking breakout candidates they will often assign a poor grade for that but when you factor in upside that bad pick in yahoos eyes is actually good. rotisserieking 37 Posted September 5 I gave myself a C- but somehow Yahoo gave me a B- and a projected 5th place 8-6 finish. I got skrewed by Byepocalypse in week 12. 3 of my first 4 picks have a bye that week so during the draft I skipped 3 guys I wanted because they were also on week 12 byes. In the end I think I messed up by doing that versus getting the right guys for all the other weeks. I need to pay less attention to the bye week. UGH. QB: Tua, Richardson RB: Bijan (keeper), Kamara, Zeke, Najee, Charbonnet, Allgeier WR: Chase (keeper), Evans, DeVonta, Jayden Reed, McConkey TE: Kittle K/D: who cares

Sean Mooney 1,547 Posted September 5 Yahoo relies too much on picks versus ADP to give their analysis. Basically if you take a bunch of dudes before their ADP you will get trashed. If you take a bunch of dudes- later you won't. Case in point I'm in a heavy IDP draft so you will see IDP guys go early in that with offensive players falling to the back end of the draft (Like I got Romeo Doubs in the 24th round with the 237th pick- Yahoo loved that pick because his ADP value was like 118. Never mind that he only went that late because you are drafting 8 IDP's in the course of the draft. Additionally- they don't take into account positional scarcity and draft positions. If you have the 1st pick (or last pick) there is a better chance you will reach on a guy in the odd ( or even) rounds because you almost have to if there is a guy you really want.

Well thank you sir for the confidence boost. Wasn't feeling great after the draft and got sniped 4 times but hey, that's how it goes. Good news is you are right: getting to the championship will be done during the season with waiver wire adds.
WhiteWonder 2,417 Posted September 5 as much as it pains me to say it, entering your draft results into FBG's rate my team tool is so much better than anything ESPN or Yahoo spits out. At least there is an explanation, position by position... even if you disagree with their outlooks on players. At the very least it's a fun read. ESPN for example gives you a letter grade and more or less no explanation. And their power rankings is nothing more than the season long projected total of your current starting lineup. I suppose that's probably the best thing they can go by but its very fluid.  My final draft of the year was graded C by ESPN, projected 8th post draft in power rankings (adjusted to 10th when we fixed one minor kicker scoring setting) .... the same roster loaded into FBG's graded as A-

I don’t really want this to be a rate my team.  It has a mix of good and bad picks.  I waited until the end for a TE (not intentional I just didn’t see value at the position on each pick) so I ended up with T Hill for example of a bad pick.  I also reached a little early on T Mclauren because I personally see Washington as being better this year than a lot probably do.  QBs K Murray, J Daniels.  RBs Bijan, K Walker iii, Benson, Brian Robinson.  WRs Olave, D Adams, McLauren, JSN, Hollywood Brown.  12 team PPR.

So based on that alone, it's hard for me to buy an F grade on your team. I have Daniels as my first QB drafted in all my leagues (usually paired with a Lawrence, Goff, Cousins type) so your duo is hypothetically better.... Walker must have been your 4th rounder and mcLaurin was the reach in the 5th? Meh. My guess is the F draft rating is based almost entirely on Taysom Hill being your starting TE

I looked at your team and it didnt look bad. only spot I didnt care for is TE but I'm betting one will emerge during the season and you will be fine. I'd say there is no scenario where I'd give this team an F or even a D or C.  You're in B range or better.  feels like a playoff team (assuming good health) all this does is validate my opinion that Yahoo ratings are total crap.  nothing more.
