It was just a play on the joke that Vance struggles to act like a human- combined with the fact he’s so obsessed about women having kids- plays more into the baby eating trope than democrats.

I wonder how his performance stacks up against former Transportation secretaries, though? What have they done to avert things like this previously? And what can SoT do to prevent an FAA "outage" whatever that means? My guess is that road fatalities are not something he can meaningfully address. What authority does he have to compel the major railroad companies to adopt the reporting program? Can he fine them, cancel licenses, etc?

 

I do believe that most of the SoT prior all had jobs more related to transportation than being a mayor of some rinky dink college town

Haven't you heard that we are in a post-qualification world now? Being qualified is soooo 90s.

Zoomers fresh out of college all want $80k+/year starting. Bloggers know more about medicine than the CDC. Our last POTUS is a failed casino magnate. Everyone in the GC is either a football, financial, or political genius. Many are all three. Want more examples?

she was the ceo of a huge shipping company, all I was pointing out was that she had experience at least in some type of transportation

if I was hiring a SoT, I would interview like the CEO of Amtrak, Greyhound, etc

This is a labor dispute, and has nothing to do with him or his office. I highly doubt he has any authority as an intermediary, either.
