Trade: Bills Acquire WR Amari Cooper

Recommended Posts

Trade market hot and heavy today! Good move for the Bills. Buffalo has been using a 5-man receiver rotation. We'll see if this move condenses that to Cooper, Shakir and Keon Coleman.

Jerry Jeudy and Njoku( when healthy) are about to be peppered with the highest volume of useless targets fantasy football has ever scene.

Oh wow, this is great news, I own him on both teams.  He’s going to really be a help at the wr slot on my non ppr team.

Jerry Jeudy Value with trade of Cooper?

Is he the number one receiving option now in Clev?

Should I queue him up on waivers?

Interesting trade.  I'm an Amari investor, and I suppose it can't get worse than what's happening in Cleveland, so I'll consider it a value bump for Cooper.

I don't trust the Bills very much though.  They've been doing a lot of weird things with their offense the past couple of years.

For instance, they ran 3 wide receiver sets almost exclusively for several years with Cole Beasley and then Isaiah McKenzie in the slot.  Then they draft Shakir, and all he ever does is get open so he seemed like a natural fit to take over that slot role for them, but then last year they draft Dalton Kincaid, and immediately start running predominately 12 personnel (1 back, 2 tightends, and 2 receivers) instead of their usual 11 personnel (1 back, 1 tightend, and 3 receivers).

So it's like, "okay, you've just done everything you can to keep Shakir off the field, so you must think he sucks."   But then they trade Diggs away, let Gabe Davis go, and thrust Shakir into a pretty important role, so then it's like, "well, okay, do you think Shakir is good now?"  Start of the year, they are featuring Shakir, and everything seems great.  Then now they trade for Cooper, so maybe they think Shakir isn't good again?  They can't seem to make up their mind.  My fear with Cooper is they might keep up this schizophrenia on what they want to be as an offense.

Are they just adding Cooper because the price is right?  To keep him away from the Chiefs?  Do they actually plan to use him?  Or are they going to give him the Diggs treatment or was Diggs lack of playmaking in the offense of his own doing?

I'm obviously overthinking this, but it's just hard to trust a receiver in this Bills offense starting from when Joe Brady took over.

Jeudy is not a number 1 receiver and he's soft.  I wouldn't burn a waiver spot on him, and I wouldn't even pick him up unless I had a wasteland on my bench.

Although it appears the Browns are giving up on the season, so maybe Jeudy could have some value if they go to Jameis.

He started off the season with some promise, but he's tailing off rapidly, just one catch in each of the last two games.

Maybe Jameis Winston gets the start soon and saves him, but I kind of doubt it.

I wouldn't roster him at this time

I own Cooper and am super happy to have Josh Allen as his QB!

As far as picking up any other Browns...I would stay far away personally.

Watson sucks and ownership does not want to admit to the mistake

This is great. I've been starting Shakir and Garrett Wilson. Both are going to take hits.

I could be wrong, but you may need to for a start this week. Odunze and Tolbert are on byes, Puka isn’t coming back this week and Cooper may not play since he was just traded.  Odunze or Tolbert would be my drop candidates.

The targets won’t be pretty, but there will be a lot of them. With bye weeks and and injuries Jeudy should be rostered in most 12 team leagues.

I am super happy to see this as I own cooper in both leagues I am in. I have had him on my bench but he is going from the worst qb in the league to one that can actually pass. This is a great upgrade for him

Agreed.  Told him the same on the little help board, but you did it much better.  Nice.

I think the Bills & Chiefs have been doing the same thing at the same time, which is reverting to a mid depth ball control passing game. Boring as all hell but very effective.

better than your dink and dunk short yardage pass game.

I think Amari gives them a potential deep threat.   He can give you that.  but thats not how hes been used most of the time. (at least not lately)

Amari is a great route runner. Better route runner than anybody on the Bills roster at this time. His problem this year has been drops.

A change of scenery has to be a good thing for him and a great motivator.

Imagine having to wonder if the ball is even going to make it to you every single time you run a perfect route. I would guess that you start to lose concentration when you are only getting 20 percent of the throws even near his catch radius. At some point he probably checked out like most of us would. He never had a problem with drops before. What is more likely that he developed a case of the yips or that his QB play was putrid and threw him off his game?

I don't think so because he had the same issue at times in Dallas.

I think he'll be better on the Bills, but we've seen him for several years, he's played with several QBs and his production has always been quite streaky. He can have a big game with the best of them but most weeks he's pretty mediocre

Mmm, let’s get it going this week, I could use Copper on my non ppr team.

Saying they haven't made a decision on whether he will play is exactly what I'd expect them to say if they were planning to get him involved right away.

Had a strong 2nd half yesterday after barely practicing. After he gets fully acclimated he could end up being a locked-in weekly fantasy WR2 ROS ⬆️⬆️⬆️

He had to be told what route to run by Colman on that TD. When asked about it Colman was a focking pro and absolutely refused to throw cooper under the bus. I love Colmans attitude and Cooper upside when he learns the playbook.
