Nabers with DeVito at the helm

Recommended Posts

FFtoday rankings still has Nabers at 10th overall this week. Do you guys still see him being a strong ppr start or are u benching him until we can see how Tommy does? A report has already indicated they will lean on the run game. If you are benching him, who for?  The matchup is a good one, so there’s that.

Start him, unless you have better.

Devito was pretty good last year Nabers & Robinson will be fine

If you weren't benching Nabers with Jones, don't know why you would with DeVito - he can't be much worse.

I don't think DeVito is as good as D. Jones. DeVito threw for more than 200 yards just once last season. He was the QB8, QB26, QB18 & QB28 in his starts. For Nabers, his role isn't going to change and the Giants schedule is favorable down the stretch beginning this week against Tampa Bay and moving forward @DAL, NO, BAL, @ATL, IND.

DeVito became the first starter in league history to complete 80% of his passes, rush for 70+ yards, commit no turnovers, and take no sacks

Takes to many sacks.

and this has what to do with Nabers? 80% of his passes for 200ish yards or less is not promising.

Agreed. Daniel Jones may be bad but he has the experience to theoretically know how to feed his best offensive weapon. We don't really know yet what the giants will do with Tommy Cutlets under center. They may be much more run heavy. Nabers targets may go down and it may at least take a week or two for them to build a connection.

Nabers could have a great game but I think if you have anyone close, you start the other guy and take a little wait and see approach.

He didn't have nabers last year... That's the point... Expect #s to go up.... But you probably know more then the Giants organization

the discussion is about what to do with Nabers now that Tommy D is starting.  Nabers should help DeVito, but will it be the other way around?  I don't think pointing to DeVitos rushing yards, lack of turnovers or sacks really has anything to do with how he can help or hurt Malik Nabers.   The completion % is the argument, but as has already been mentioned, he did that with a single game above 200 yards passing.

If he can make Wandale Robinson look good he can do the same for Nabers. Maybe less deep balls, but it’s not like DJ had a high YPA…

What can you do with Nabers? He’s still a WR2 at least I’m sure. Maybe not that stud WR1 you had at the beginning of the year but that kinda got sidetracked anyway.

Wouldn’t drop him of course. Assume your trade deadline has passed. If not and somebody wants to give you WR1 value for him, then yeah you should probably do that.

I don’t understand the question, really.

Nabers - injured groin, no practice Friday. I'm benching him for DJ Moore or Jayden Reed. Nabers hasn't done anything in the last 4 weeks anyway.

I didn't start the topic, just explaining it, really.

I believe the question is, do you continue to start him hoping he returns to that WR1 production we saw for a few weeks or do you defer to another option if you have some decent choices. It seems like a decent topic to discuss, especially if you think the Giants may lean more on the run and Tracy/Singletary.

I don't believe the OP was suggesting dropping him. It sounded like a question about taking a wait and see approach and maybe for this week starting someone like a Courtland Sutton over him, for example.

Yeah like I said, he hasn’t been a WR1 for almost two months now anyways

It's not about being a WR1.  People are not exclusively starting fantasy WR1's every week. It's more about his boom/bust potential. We know he has the potential of a WR1, we know with Jones he was putting up 10-15 ppr fantasy points recently.  We don't know if he can boom with DeVito. So, again, would you keep starting him or would you turn to maybe a less talented option you feel you can trust more? I believe that is what the OP is trying to discuss.

You had stated you didn't understand the question.... so I guess you don't feel its a worthy topic, despite responding.

I should have started DJ Moore over Nabers like my initial instinct. 29 vs 12 points.

Good news on the Malik Nabers front.  After the game, he had a nice little squeaky wheel diva rant.  I expect 8/118/1 stat line next week.

Well, Devito has a reputation of being good in the short passing game (or you can call him a dink and dunk QB)

he will not throw a lot of deep balls, so this will negate some of Nabers value for sure.   I think under Devito Nabers is still startable but hes no longer a WR1.

hes likely a low to mid range WR2 with a handful of games in the WR3/flex territory on bad matchups.
