Donald Trump’s Ghostwriter Tells All

Schwartz had ghostwritten Trump’s 1987 breakthrough memoir, earning a joint byline on the cover, half of the book’s five-hundred-thousand-dollar advance, and half of the royalties. The book was a phenomenal success, spending forty-eight weeks on the Times best-seller list, thirteen of them at No. 1. More than a million copies have been bought, generating several million dollars in royalties. The book expanded Trump’s renown far beyond New York City, making him an emblem of the successful tycoon. Edward Kosner, the former editor and publisher of New York, where Schwartz worked as a writer at the time, says, “Tony created Trump. He’s Dr. Frankenstein.”

Well now we know who to go after.

Get rid of the IRS and income tax.  Use tariffs to recoup that money.  Give more incentives to companies to keep manufacturing in the US.  The US should be the power house we always brag it up to be.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

So instead of paying income tax we're gonna pay $300 to fill the tank or $10 for an avocado? 🤣

I'm not against there being a consumption tax.  I would rather keep the money I earn and spend it the way I want.

We’re going to put a tariff on our own oil?  And Avocados grow in California.

The list I just posted is only of the items most affected and it is VERY incomplete. If we consider that the likeliest result of these tariffs is that the 3 countries affected will retaliate with new tariffs in kind then we can expect all sorts of unforeseen consequences, along with increased unemployment, etc.

Keep in mind that though we have had tariffs before, both during Trump and Biden, we have NEVER had anything close to 25% tariffs on our two largest trading partners. It will be the largest tariffs in our history, bigger than Smoot-Hawley. I believe that if it lasts it will bring our currently booming economy to a grinding halt.

No one needs any of those things to be cheap in order to live a happy life, accept maybe vehicles.

Even if you don’t care, most people will. And if most people are hurt by this then you won’t be able to escape being negatively affected yourself. That’s how trade inevitably works.

Having out money taken from us is affecting us all right now.  I'd rather keep my money and spend it how I want.

in the short term they will hurt us.  I'm talking 1 to 2 years.   After about a year the other countries will hopefully see that we can withstand the hurt more than they & cave.  I'm a wait and see guy but I understand they will hurt in the short term.

Cave how? We have free trade agreements with Canada and Mexico- Trump renegotiated them himself. What are you expecting them to do now? Trump’s vague demand is that they help us with border control. No specifics offered. That’s why this is madness.

You seem to think these tariffs will be an alternative to income tax. I don’t think that’s happening.

I'm saying, that's what I prefer.  It use to be that way before income tax.  I also said I'm up for a consumption tax.

We import 4.3M barrels of oil a day from Canada boyo.  Stop being such a low information person.

And 90% of our avocados come from Mexico.  Again, you're low information.  You run your mouth too much for knowing close to nothing boyo.

Be Better.

Yes. One of the very many reasons I didn’t vote for him. Do you think this is a good idea?

Yeah cause there's any circumstance you would have voted for Trump lol.  As far as this goes, his tariffs didn't hurt us last time despite people like you whining about them so I'll take a wait and see approach.  I suspect everything will work out fine.

Biden’s tariffs drove prices up and I complained about them. Trump’s tariffs will be way worse.

Not talking specifically about Tariffs re: Biden.  That's why I used the word policies and not tariffs in my post.

Some of Biden’s other policies helped drive prices up but I didn’t complain about them because I believed they were necessary to extricate us out of the bigger crisis of the COVID economy. I still believe that and think that he was successful, and will go down in history as a successful President.

No one cares about your opinions because they're usually wrong.

Yesterday @Strike bumped one of his own posts tagging me because a few hours had gone by and I hadn’t yet responded. So frigging desperate.

I've never seen anyone follow another person around the way Strike does with you.  It's so pathetic. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
