Amidst all the threads about bad news in the world today, I'm happy to deliver some good news.  Today, for the first time since we moved to our new office, I went 8 for 8 in getting green lights!!!  Twice I got the first seven only to fail at the Ada, but not today!  I crested the hill, nobody in front of me and I could see from 200 meters that the crosswalk sign was still white and I was going to make it. After so much heartbreak of getting 6 lights, 7 lights, today I did it!!!!   

Thanks to everyone who for getting the heck out of the way today so that I could complete this remarkable achievement.

Speaking of Neckar, my brother got me a Nascar experience at any of the available tracks in the country.  8 minutes behind the wheel of of one of the cars!  I've got to figure a race to see and a track I want to go to, I'm thinking of Homestead.

I hope you get all green on the way home as well.  Sure getting to work quick is nice, but getting home quick is better, presuming things are good at home.

Curious about the driving experience.  Do they have governors or restrictor plates or engine overrides on the vehicles to keep neophytes like me from doing something fatally stupid on their trackand with their car?  What are the safety precautions?  What are the limitations?

Yes, they have some kind of governors. Just from reading the website,it seems as you get more track time, you can get into faster and faster cars.  Check out the more minutes equals more speed graph.  Scroll down for to the bottom for the FAQ about limitations, but I'm pretty jacked about doing this.

Sounds like a great time.  My brothers and I bought our Dad four trips around Road America's course for my Dad's 60th b-day many years ago now.  Each lap was in a different classic race or sports car.  He loved it I was told.  Unfortunately the day he ran the course I was unable to attend, but each of my brothers was there.

Oh man, that would be so cool. The Nascar Experience doesn't list any road courses, probably for some pretty obvious reasons.  Man I bet your Dad loved that and it's a bummer you couldn't be there.

I did get to spend a day with him at the Revs Museum in Naples two years before he died.  He loved that place.  He knew every car in it intimately.  A really nice visit for car guys, particularly older car guys.

My brother lives in West Palm Beach, so this is just a quick trip across alligator alley.  I'll be adding this to the list of things to do when I'm down there.

Irrelevant. Hitting the lights correctly is the priority. When plowing through a run of green lights, speed shall not be considered unless you are at least doubling the posted speed limit. Pretty sure that's a law in all 50 states and PR.

Or even more egregious, seeing that the next light was red and slowing down to 10 mph to give it time to turn green.

I recently drove a relative's WRX that was quite nimble. Hit 95 on a country curve with a posted 50 speed limit, 115 on a straightaway. The car had plenty left, but I had a helluva time getting it into 6th gear. I'm just not used to driving manual trannys anymore, unfortunately.
