VP Vance asked for a thank you for an aid package he voted against.

His administration also told Zelensky that he:

(1) has to give up parts of his country to Putin 

(2) cant join NATO

(3) has to pay back the US for past aid, and

(4) there will no new aid.

So exactly why does Vance think he is owed a thank you?

The American people deserve a thank you & have received it from Zelenskyy many times.

Apparently, the US/Ukraine agreement had been negotiated and reached with no security agreements in place for Ukraine. So when Zelensky brought up how Putin can't be trusted to honor an agreement based on his past violations of such, it set off JD Vance, as they had already taken that into account and intended to move the negotiations ahead without those in place.

Thats not correct. Zelensky wasn’t asking if Russia would honor the minerals deal; why would he? He was asking if Russia would honor a ceasefire which is a separate issue, and he correctly pointed out that Russia hasn’t honored ceasefires in the past. Zelensky was ready to sign the minerals deal (and still is).  But he will NOT agree to a ceasefire without some assurance of security. I think that makes sense, don’t you?

Russia had no part to play in the mineral deal anyway, its not what I said.

Also, it does make complete sense that Zelensky would want assurances of security. The thing of it was the deal was already in place without them and Vance didn't take kindly to his trying to renegotiate the agreement on camera.

The security is implied, at least to start. There was more to come in the deal. They (Ukraine) were looking for immediacy of this. And Ukraine has it from the US. If the US has stake in the natural resources, they will protect them. That's a given. Zelensky Focked up.

Ukraine is fighting for the normal and safe life it deserves, for a just and reliable peace. We want this war to end. But Russia does not, and continues its aerial terror: over the past week, more than 1,050 attack drones, nearly 1,300 aerial bombs, and more than 20 missiles have been launched at Ukraine to destroy cities and kill people.
