peenie Posted April 15, 2025 Posted April 15, 2025 So, Trump now says illegal farm workers and illegals cooking and cleaning in businesses, hotels and restaurants can stay. You conservatives don't see any hypocrisy there??? AND, we told y'all he wasn't going to let his friend's businesses get affected by his mass deportation (which was a lie, just to get votes). Quote

I love it. But, we should keep them accounted for and watched closely. The first wrong step they make, out they go. Quote

IF true, then yeah, I'm not on board with that. I don't think we should be making ANY exceptions for illegals at all - they all need to go. If that is what he is doing, then I call BS on that. And we should be penalizing businesses that employ them. And a penalty that's going to dissuade them from ever doing it again. 2 1 Quote

You can't play into everything they cry about. Quote

So he wants the layabouts and freeloaders out . The ones we gave phones , ebt cards and free housing while contributing nothing . Sounds like a workable plan 1 Quote

Title 8, U.S.C. 1324(a) Offenses Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Subsection 1324(a)(1)(i)-(v) prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts. Subsection 1324(a)(2) prohibits bringing or attempting to bring unauthorized aliens to the United States in any manner whatsoever, even at a designated port of entry. Subsection 1324(a)(3). Alien Smuggling -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(i) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing that a person is an alien, to bring to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien. Consequences of Employing Undocumented Workers The prior focus of the US government in discouraging the employment of undocumented workers was to impose civil fines on employers who are found to have a pattern and practice of hiring such workers. An example of civil fines that happened within the last three years is the 2007 Ohio chicken plant raid that culminated in the arrest of certain supervisors of that factory and the ultimate imposition of a $536,000 fine. However, since 2006, the government shifted its efforts to prosecuting employers and charging them with criminal liability. For instance, in 2010, a Columbus, Ohio developer was sentenced to two years probation and fined in U.S. District Court in for routinely employing undocumented aliens in his properties. What Are the Civil Fines and Criminal Prosecution For Employing Undocumented Workers? The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 imposed civil and criminal fines for the unlawful hiring of aliens. The consequences include: A maximum penalty of six months imprisonment and a fine of $3,000 per worker may be imposed. For I-9 paperwork violations, fines range from $110 to $1,100 per employee involved. Employers are given a ten-day window to cure technical and procedural I-9 violations and a five-year statute of limitations period applies to substantive I-9 errors. Fines for knowingly hiring undocumented workers can be up to $11,000 for each worker. However, violations occurring on or after March 27, 2008, are subject to a maximum fine of $16,000. Factors considered in determining the fines include the following: Size of the employer Good faith of employer Seriousness of the violations Previous violations Actual involvement of unauthorized aliens In the 1990s the fine amounts were so low that employers cons 1 Quote
iam90sbaby Posted April 15, 2025 Posted April 15, 2025 We should just imprison them and make them work for free for 10-15 years and send em home when they’re old 1 Quote
MDC Posted April 15, 2025 Posted April 15, 2025 Of course he does. Don manufactures his clothing line in China, hires illegals to work his golf courses, and stiffs US small businesses. His record on organized labor is terrible. Musk lays American software engineers off and hires H1-B workers instead. They're country club republicans pretending to be populists. 2 1 Quote

I don't want all illegals to remain in the country, but I do think people looking for the better way of life should be allowed in, just like it was done in the 1920's. They came; we let them in simply because they wanted to be here. Quote
Mike Honcho Posted April 15, 2025 Posted April 15, 2025 Trump already watched the FBI make a raid on Mar-A-Lago, probably just wants to avoid ICE showing up too. 1 Quote

The Real timschochet Posted April 15, 2025 Posted April 15, 2025 @peenie I agree with your overall sense of the hypocrisy here. But I disagree with your use of the word “slave”. It’s actually, IMO, an insult to those Americans whose ancestors were actual slaves. These people are certainly paid low wages but they are paid. And even the low level of their wages is relative since in most cases they receive far more spending power than they were would have received at home. Furthermore they are free to quit at any time. They can’t be sold, they aren’t whipped, they don’t fear death if they leave the plantation…”slave” just isn’t accurate. 1 Quote

Noted and that is very honorable of you to say, but I meant it in the sense that many of these people are worked very hard and are underpaid. Yes, they are not slaves, but I think I can use colorful language to make my point. Quote
