Nebraska Governor issues emergency proclamation ahead of protests

NEBRASKA (KCAU) — Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen issued an emergency proclamation on June 13 to activate the state’s National Guard, along with the deployment of more state law enforcement resources ahead of this weekend’s protests in the Cornhusker State.

The Governor’s office said the proclamation is a precautionary measure in reaction to “recent instances of civil unrest across the country.”

Under the state of emergency, members of the Nebraska National Guard may be activated to help out local law enforcement agencies, if any demonstrations escalate to people being hurt or property being destroyed.

Governor Pillen’s office said the National Guard activation, under normal conditions, can take 12 to 24 hours. The proclamation shortens that time to make sure that troop resources are available and standing by, if they’re needed.

“Free speech will be respected and protected in Nebraska, but the lawlessness, chaos, and rioting seen in other cities in past weeks will not be tolerated here,” said Gov. Pillen (R) Nebraska.

“I have taken the necessary steps to ensure we have the state resources necessary to promptly respond to disorder. Any person who poses a threat to life, health, or property will be arrested. Nebraskans across the state, as well as the thousands of visitors to Omaha for the College World Series, can rest assured that the State of Nebraska and our local partners have taken the appropriate steps to ensure security and order,” said Gov. Pillen (R) Nebraska.

Who is starving? And gas is lower now than under creepy joe.

The Omaha Police worked with the protestors and no incidents occurred (so far anyway).

And if anyone is starving, it's not that food isn't available to those in need. Most likely parent(s) with more children than they could ever afford and/or addiction problems.
