Joining A Work League After A Decades Old Absence From FF

Recommended Posts

Work league. ESPN.

Help an old dog learn new tricks.

ETA: "Never bench your studs" isn't a new trick.

Nice. I really do not remember when exactly I quit - was commish for over 20 years. Probably 6-8 years ago. Been thinking about getting back into “the game”. When I quit the league disbanded (hoped someone would have continued it) - will have to find a new league.

Can I join? Looks like easy money.  Oh it’s probably a free league.

Same. I started a league back when we had to hand calc scores from the box scores in the newspaper.

Kept the league going into the internet/online era. I just got tired of it so I handed it off to another guy and bowed out.

It's been at least 10-15 years since I played. I don't even know who the good players around the league are these days.

I was having some drinks with the fellas after work yesterday and they asked me to fill an open spot. So here I am, trying to play catch up. I should've just handed the commish my $100 and said "take it."

You couldn't pay me to play ffball. I focused on a game for the first time in a few years. Someone got a flag for tackling a guy improperly from the front. Had no idea what that new age sissy penalty was. I'm glad I'm out.

One of the reasons I quit was to enjoy the game itself again.

I'm sure the game feels the same way about you.

The no running back no WR method is really gaining traction 👍

Noted!

So my strategy of taking a Defense and a kicker in the first two rounds is solid.

You wasted everyone's time and energy who read your post with the most useless combination of letters this message board has ever seen. Congrats.

I'm assuming this strategy is still brining home the trophy like it did for me every year I played.

Why do you participate on a message board where 95 percent of its inhabitants are NFL fans who play fantasy football?

You should go find a better-suited home for your ignorant drivel.

Congrats. You have out done yourself. This post is an even more useless combination of letters. I didn't think you could, but you proved me wrong. I really doubt you can break your own personal record again, but I'm willing to be proven wrong again.

You've wasted two posts trying to convince yourself and others of this perspective as well as pop off in a thread about how you're oh so above watching the NFL and playing fantasy football like almost everyone else here. This kind of thing typically is a manifestation of profound insecurity, a hollow kind of thing that makes you feel a little better about yourself.

Perhaps you would feel more at home on a pickleball board or a forum for insecure losers who prop up each other by trying to convince themselves they're oh so much better than everyone else on the outside.

Have a great rest of your day! I'll be mowing the lawn and thinking about my draft-position options for the upcoming season, which I'll thoroughly enjoy with or without your lofty presence.

I quit about a decade ago but know most of the good players from doing prop bets.Anyhow you should post your league points rules and will help others to help easier.

I tried to copy and paste the scoring system but it doesn't want to work.

12 team league, "standard" ppr scoring.

Nothing fancy.

No kidding. I'm sure there are plenty of other threads for FBN to flex his hipster-contrarian muscles.

I haven't missed a season since I started playing a long, long time ago. There was one year when my big league fell apart, so I just joined a free one on Yahoo just to keep the streak going. For four or five years, I've been in this league with a bunch of blue-collar biker types, which has been fun because the chat gets pretty spicy. I just mostly stay quiet and chime in tastefully in the proceedings.

I started doing fantasy neckcar many years ago after quitting ff. It was a change of pace that kind of scratched that itch. I'm sh!tting the bed this year, though. :wall:

Back in the day I expected to compete for the FFL championship every year. At this point, I've been out of the game for so long that not coming in last is my goal. :D

I joined a work league 4 years ago after a 6-7 year absence from FF. It’s great: low entry, no stress, and I get my $ back almost every year (top 3 finish pays out).

Assuming like most work leagues you have a handful of tacos, my advice is to draft for value and don’t get caught up in runs, especially at positions like QB/TE where there’s very little difference between the 6th or 12th player off the board. Don’t draft a backup QB or TE unless your starter is shaky and make D/K your last picks off the board.

Also stay relatively sober and engaged in the middle and late rounds, when league mates lose interest and start trying to fill out their roster instead of taking BPA.

Good luck. 🍀

If Barry Sanders is still available late in the draft pick him.

(This happened in my league where a team - 2 guys - were conferring and couldn’t believe Barry was still available and they confidently “picked him” we all had a good laugh as Sanders name was still on most cheat sheets the year he retired).

The rest of you stop bickering in every freaking thread. Take it somewhere else. Not in a sports thread. Insufferable

Don't forget the eligible offense lineman able to catch a pass in the 3rd.
