- While some Democrats have railed against President Donald Trump's $200 million plan to remodel the White House ballroom, Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., defended the investment in an interview with Fox News Digital. 

"The plans are going to be done in a tasteful and historical kind of way," Fetterman said. "They're not putting in a Dave & Buster's kind of situation here, so I think upgrading some of these facilities seems pretty normal."

IMO the White House is an American icon & monument, and this particular piece was build by one of the great Presidents, a Republican. It’s tragic.

Incorrect.  Private funds can be used (which it is in this case), to make renovations to the White House without Congressional approval.  Of the projected $250M bill, $200M has already been raised through private sources and more fund raising will continue until they hit the number they need.

Trump is legally allowed to do what he's doing.

Ok you’ve already said you treasure the WH, right? So do I, and I think almost all Americans do. Obviously the 9/11/01 hijackers wanted to destroy it, some people feel that way about it I guess. You & I feel the same way about it, you just think we have no choice on the matter & that all this is perfectly legal. Personally even if it were legal I find it disgusting defacement of a great American symbol. I don’t know, again I just see it as sad. I’m not sure if anyone will ever do anything about it.

I was referring to your post that this project was that "... doing something of this magnitude without Congressional approval is wrong & unconstitutional."

 

You are incorrect.  This does not need congressional approval and it is not unconstitutional.  Trump has full authority to do this if private funds are being used.  With that being the case, congressional approval is not needed.  The project estimates to be $250M.  Apparently, $200M has already been donated and the administration is still fundraising for the other $50M.  So, there's nothing wrong with this.

You think it's defacement because Trump is doing it.  Why not wait until after it's done and see what it looks like?  If it looks like crap, then I'd probably agree with you.  If it doesn't, then the American tax payers spent no money for something that looks great.  Now, I know the talking heads (Democrat leadership and MSM), will hate it no matter what... even if the rest of the world thinks it's beautiful.

It's not.  It would only be, if Trump actually needed congressional approval (which he doesn't because private money is being used), and congress had a say in the matter (which they don't anyway).
