I am not moved often by the deaths of celebs. I really have been by this one. I know it sounds crazy, but it really has hit me. This dude had a couple young kids. It makes me worry about saying anything to anyone about anything. I stopped showing any kind of political affiliation years ago because of the nutjobs out there.  The last time I felt like this was when cobain killed himself. I was in shock like I am now. I really enjoyed watching him.

Pro-MAGA podcast host Steve Crowder said he was subpoenaed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, or ATF, after he revealed alleged details about an investigation into the shooting of Charlie Kirk.

 

In a Thursday morning post on X, Crowder claimed to have received an email from an "officer at ATF." The message included what he said were details about "a weapon and cartridges located by an ATF and other law enforcement near the scene of the Charlie Kirk shooting at Utah Valley State University."

"All cartridges have engraved wording on them, expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology," the report said. 

The New York Times later suggested that law enforcement officials had walked back that claim.

"A senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation cautioned that the report had not been verified by A.T.F. analysts, did not match other summaries of the evidence and might turn out to have been misread or misinterpreted," the Times said.

 

On Thursday afternoon, Crowder revealed that his company had been subpoenaed.

"Just received word that my company is being subpoenaed by the ATF. No details yet," he wrote on X.

Had a long talk with my son over dinner about the Kirk assassination. I told him that between the mental health crisis, easy access to guns, and the tone of political rhetoric in this country, I’m not surprised this sort of thing keeps happening. Every time you call someone Hitler, call them the enemy of the people, falsely accuse folks of heinous crimes etc. it’s like flicking a lot match at a pool of gasoline.

I told him violence isn’t the answer. Kirk had a wife and kid who loved him, and we shouldn’t ever gloat over a tragedy, even though Kirk himself trafficked in exactly the sort of rhetoric that makes this kind of violence more likely.

My son said Kirk seemed to believe what he said. I told him that’s true and there’s some integrity in that, unlike people who say outrageous things just for cash clicks and attention.

But, I told him you can have integrity and still he dead wrong and reckless. “Do you know who else meant what he said even though he was dead wrong and dangerous?” He asked me who.

I said “That guy Dave down the block. He believes everything he says, and he’s a retarded jackass.”

We had a good laugh and played some Madden. I love my boy. :wub:

It's not my place to tell you how to parent your kid (or maybe he's an adult now?), but there is a lot I don't like about this.  It basically says that Kirk hurt some feelings so he brought it upon himself.
