If you watch toddlers with little verbal ability react to situations, you can see how and why we become stunted by the lack of actual social interaction.

Toddler doesn't get his way? He hits. He screams. He bites. He throws things.

Without proper emotional development, this toddler grows in to a person who has no idea what to do with how he feels.  It just amplifies.

There are SO many having mental health crises, it doesn't always end in shootings or whatever. But it's because they just don't have the emotional where with all, and sometimes the support around them to try and help them understand.

I think everyone agrees our country has a huge problem with mental health.  We haven't all been able to come up with a way to fix it though, or agree on a way.  It needs to start at a young age though.

Nothing will change.

It has to get worse. People need to be uncomfortable. Everyone will go watch sports ball this weekend. Come Monday everyone will have moved on.

Bread and circus.

Followed by 3 more school shootings.

I was brought up very liberal, and I am far from it

When I was 22 I was very conservative & that’s how I was raised. I used to argue with socialists. I’m not going to speculate on this kid’s views, but it seems reminiscent of the Butler shooter.

It would help if we changed how we vote.  We keep voting in the wrong people.  We have no real leadership.

You're either for current party or against it. There's no other way to vote.

Turning Point put out something yesterday saying Kirk had hundreds of death threats against him for his views.

And you didn't think to give him extra security at any point or take more precautions?

I saw on a news program someone raise the issue of why this wasn’t held indoors. Apparently the site at UVU is commonly used for such events. Again to me Butler never should’ve happened because the perimeter could never be protected & the local PD was absurdly small. Internal security teams need to adjust.

There are so many layers to this, I had a huge response typed out but I really don't want the backlash.

Our young mens brains (or just young people in general) are just being screwed up from the age of 2 and older. Give 'em an iPad. Don't teach them what it feels like to lose a game, or get bullied. They have a complete lack of emotional intelligence. You can't figure out how to discuss or debate? Call them names. That doesn't work? Beat them up, or go destroy something, that will make you feel better. That doesn't work? Go kill someone just because. Go make a name for yourself, etc.

It ALL starts with young brain development and emotional intelligence. Add feminism, social media, health care and lack of other resources and there are a lot of people out there who just do NOT think about their actions and consequences.

Definitely something to what you say. SOMETHING has changed. I got out of high-school in 1980.....central MA area. We all had shotguns....in our vehicles....on school property. We would put our books in the car after school, grab the shotgun & go pheasant hunting in the fields around the school. NOBODY shot ANYONE....WE ALL HAD GUNS. I'm not sure what has happened but somewhere in the chain, something broke. We had more access to firearms as young men than now & nothing bad happened. We need to find an answer...

Unfortunately, this will turn into a gun debate...again.  rinse and repeat.  And the debate will die down, like it always does...then another shooting where it will ramp up again.  I can't understand why people who think banning guns fixes this.  it doesn't.  It won't.  And it's a lazy way to try to deal with this issue.

Something to note- a lot of the stuff that was on the bullet casings are from things that are very popular online or from media stuff.

The arrows allude to a game called HellDivers 2 which is a first person shooter that is geared towards troops spreading an authoritarian government. The "bella ciao" thing is from a 50's Italian song that was used in a TikTok video in January and got like 3.5 million views.

So among the many issues surrounding all of this- social media bares some extra attention.

Ha right. I used to volunteer for GOP campaigns.

No we don’t know much about the Butler shooter. I think everyone keeps looking for a fuse & they keep finding normal American kids & then they stop pushing & move on to the next fight.

It comes down to personal responsibility.

Whats weird tho...and granted I am only seeing little bits and pieces so far...is this kid looks like he had a loving family.  Now..I know social media can absolutely hide the truth....so I don't know.

Were his parents too "soft"  did something else happen in this kids life that made him become radicalized?  What happened?

It's good the kid is still alive....We really need to dig into who what etc.....Before he is executed

It's because they have no other argument.  They don't know how to make a change or don't see the real problem to begin with so they take the easy way out.  Saying guns are the problem is taking the easy way.

Right there with you. The MAGAs here keep calling me liberal but have yet to produce a shred of evidence I have repeatedly challenged them to post. They think anyone who disagrees with Trump and MAGA is liberal. So dumb!

Meh. I think you mostly get referred to as an assshole or something in that vein.

100%.

And it's not about "taking the guns away." IMO.

Exactly.  This doesn't really fit the mold of most shooters so far.

A psycho inspired by the rhetoric of the left.

no he was just a leftist, not a psycho

a psycho can't plan that out with such success and the escape, looks like the only thing he didnt do was have a secondary escape plan, thought he mixed in and was safe?

Sure. That is going to be a problem.

It will come around eventually.  As one generation grows up and goes through life they then raise their children to learn from their mistakes.  As people see how this isn't working for us, changes will be made.  The problem is that it's going to take a while.

I'm not sure I agree with that.  I think it's possible for someone psychotic to carry that out successfully.

Sorry magas, ruined your weekends

Not mine. I have a great one ahead. The boy has a baseball game tonight under the lights, soccer game tomorrow, come home and close the pool then off to church, go out for some pizza, then the boy has his first game in pads on the same field his old man played on.  Then off to the bar with the boys for the games. What are you doing? Research?

I learned more and more that liberals are not what they claim they are.  Over the last few years I've seem them move further and further to the left.  When I first registered to vote as an 18 year old I did so as a Democrat because that's what my parents were and that's who I felt I best fit with.  They have changed drastically.  They have become much more extreme.  I consider myself in the middle but find myself agreeing more and more with conservatives.  I can no longer support much of what the left stands for.

Bill Clintons SOTU address in the 90s, makes him sound like modern day MAGA.
