This marks the company’s second major round of layoffs in 2025 as it tries to keep costs under control while pouring money into artificial intelligence (AI). The move impacts less than 4% of Microsoft’s total workforce, but it still sends shockwaves through the tech world. In May, Microsoft already cut around 6,000 jobs. Now, just two months later, the tech giant is back with even more reductions, driven by the need to streamline operations and focus spending on AI. Economy is just fine. Nothing to see here. Let's blame AI Quote

Strike Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 19 minutes ago, edjr said: Why are they on the payroll now? Companies, especially large ones, tend to overhire at certain times, either to lessen the workload of their current workforce or in anticipation of growth. Tech companies have even been known to hire when not needed to keep labor away from their competitors. Quote
