So if you're allowed to only take $3k per year, how did you burn down $300k of losses since 2008?

Oh wait.  I think I get it.  You probably claimed like $240k of loss the first year to offset most of your earnings that year, and saved the rest.  Then you've been claiming $3k ever since.

You really don't understand this?  bro, you can't use a capital loss against W2 income.  Come on.  Maybe you should try doing your taxes and learn something.

I've never lost that much money.  How would I know how it works?

So, yeah I don't get it.  If you can only claim $3k per year losses, how did you claim $300k in 20 years? You obviously offset a large amount in that first year against something, no?

The very rare instance that gutter is correct on something. And it’s fairly common knowledge for anyone who has any investments so I’m not giving him much credit as I am wondering why you don’t know this.

you can claim up to 3k in capital losses in excess of your capital gains. The rest can be carried over.

if I have 10k in losses for 2025, and 2k in gains, I can claim 5k in losses and carry the other 5 forward. Then if I have 2k in gains this year, I can claim the remaining 5k loss on my 2026 taxes.

For some reason he sold at a huge loss in 2008 or something and has been writing that amount off against his capital gains (not his regular income) ever since

When you have a capital gain, you have to pay tax on it.  Right?

When you calculate what your capital gain is for the year, you take all of your stock wins and losses and add them up.  So if you sold 3 stocks for a gain of $15K, and then you sold 1 for a loss of $5K, you have a total gain of $10k.  with me?

Now, you are also allowed to use your carryover loss against any gains for the year.  So if I have a $10k gain, and a $400k loss from the prior year carried over, I can eliminate the full $10k gain and I can even go another $3k for an overall $3k loss for that year.  After doing that, my carryover for the next year if $387k.

So every year, you take your gains, reduce them by your losses all the way down to a $3k loss, and any loss left is brought into the next year.

All this means I've booked $300k in gains the past 15 years but used my carry over loss to avoid paying taxes on them.

Now if you can't understand that, just punch yourself in the balls and run out into traffic.

Its so very not. From discipline to academics, my daughter's private school is far superior to mine. All these private schools are and Its not close. We do offer bus services, better after school activities,  and everything is free wheras I have to cough up extra money for anything my daughter does. The Florida Step Up scholarship only covers tuition, but that's 90% of it, and I'm happy to eat both the other 10% as well as the extra 20 + 20 = 40 minute commute time every day to keep her out of the public school system.

Of course the private schools are better than Florida public schools in 2026. Because they’re getting the money. But they aren’t totally free as you point out. That extra money they get from you on top of your taxpayer dollars on top of the commute for a decent school? That’s a failure IMO. Should have focused on getting public schools back up to snuff. Especially with the insanely high costs of youth soccer,  swimming, or any other activities these days…. It’s all a racket.

Exactly. When 30% of the hispanic population you’re singing to needs a government handout.

Should’ve just had a government official throwing out tax money to them

Looking like a wise choice by the NFL now that the numbers have come in.

The Super Bowl LX Halftime Show featuring Bad Bunny generated over 4 billion social views in the first 24 hours — up 137% — the most-consumed halftime show of all time on NFL social platforms.

Link?  And if true, how does that compare to previous years?

Of course HT is lying and that's why he has nothing to back it up. Dude is a pathological liar and troll. Stop expecting legitimate conversation from him

According to data from Nielsen (via Variety), a whopping 124.9 million viewers tuned in Sunday night to watch the Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots to capture the Lombardi trophy.

Nielsen data shows that Bad Bunny’s audience totaled 128.2 million viewers when he took the stage at Levi’s Stadium shortly after 8 p.m. ET. That number also fell slightly short of last year’s mark, as Kendrick Lamar brought in 133.5 million viewers.

So the overall Super Bowl number was down from last year (127.7 million last year) and the halftime show was down from last year

More people watched the halftime show than the game?  That doesn’t really make sense either

These numbers are way off, must not be including streaming or something.  Takes 2 seconds to see that the game is over 100 million pretty much every year.  You know you don’t have to automatically believe everything you read just because it aligns with your preconceived notions right?

Investigate what?

Rep. Randy Fine accused the rapper of encouraging children to use cocaine and faulted him for dropping F-bombs in Spanish, while calling the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate how NBC Universal and the NFL allowed that “indecent material to be broadcast.”

“When over 130 million viewers — including children — are subjected to grotesque, leftist garbage, accountability is not optional,” he added. “In America, our laws are not suggestions, and no matter what foreign language you speak, you must comply.”

Wait...I thought the MAGA crowd was upset because Bad Bunny didn't sing in English and they couldn't understand what he was saying...and now they are complaining about F-bombs in Spanish?  😂

was home for lunch and the lady wanted to watch it (she bartends Sundays) and is slightly woke.

Sure I didn’t understand it. Was not that bad.

Lady GooGoo got like 30 seconds, I understood her.

I mentioned earlier that my daughter is a paid Nielsen viewer.  She would have had no interest in the game, but might have turned on Bad Bunny.  :dunno:

MJ was before social media, streaming, etc. He was also the first televised half time show and to this day is the TOP pop artist of all time.

Cannot compare this to Bad Bunny. These are NOT the same.

We had the Bad Bunny show on, but it's when I chose to get up and clean up the kitchen and food and all of that. We counted as "viewers" but weren't watching.
