Consider how long it’s been, I don’t want to jinx it. But I am pretty excited about how well the Sabres are playing right now… Glad it happened. Bruins outperformed their roster but they need foundational change starting with Sweeney. Quote

They've been calling it that way for a few years now. Although, I was sure the Bruins would lose after that call. Good win. Glad they didn't turtle after Sunday's debacle. Let's see if they can keep it up on Thursday. 1 Quote
dogcows Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Nice bounce-back by Boston, and the Sabres looked like the nerves got to them. Quote
posty Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Hopefully the Flyers can close out the series tonight after dropping the last two... Ugh, it is so gross pulling for a Philadelphia team... Quote

dogcows Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Bye Bye Bruins… Good series except for McAvoy who is a piece of . Buffalo on to the 2nd round! Quote
listen2me 23 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Good win. Boston didn't have a ton this year. If Sabs didnt win that one who knows game 7 though. Its Sabres.and house money but really didnt want them to have the season they did and end up losing 1st round to possibly weakest team in the East. Or bottom 2 anyway. No expectations and its hockey but didnt want them to just flame out quick. You have teams like Avs and Carolina. But other than that, feels like Sabres could hang or beat any other team in it. Its hockey so sometimes things just happen. Itd be quite a stunner. I was joking around with a buddy when Sabres started playing well and looked like playoffs was going to happen. I said watch the Sabres randomly win a Cup out of no where and get one before the Bills. Quote

I don’t think I ever saw Benson (or anybody else for a long time) take a 2-handed swing at another player’s head. Especially in a game and series that was already over. But I did get a good laugh out of being called a bandwagon fan as I think back to remembering them bringing in LaFontaine to help the young new Mogilny try and get the Sabres a cup. Fun fact: The Bruins are my most hated team so this series was extra special to me… Quote

Obviously you can’t be swinging your stick like McAvoy but what Benson did could have resulted in a catastrophic injury . With what Charlie has dealt with injury wise I can see him losing his cool and he didn’t swing at his head 2 Quote

A slewfoot is suspension worthy? Seems like you dont watch hockey. Mcavoy was a scumbag thr whole series and did thr same foot move earlier. It happens all of the time. What on earth are you babbling about? Benson deserves a suspension for a routine penalty? 1 Quote

Not sure why anybody defends McAvoy. He saves his dirtiest plays for after a goal or when the game is basically over. Sore loser of the worst kind. Another example here: Quote

Started playing at 4 and stopped when I was 36 . Routine penalty?? You have to be at least partially retarded. “Slew-footing is considered one of the most dangerous plays in hockey because it sends a player falling backward without the ability to protect themselves. While defined in Rule 52 (not 50.4) of the NHL Rulebook, it is indeed often a multi-game ban due to the high risk of injury. Bladetech Hockey +2 Here is the breakdown of slew-footing as defined by the NHL: Definition (Rule 52.1) Slew-footing is the act of a player using their leg or foot to knock or kick an opponent's feet from under them, or pushing an opponent's upper body backward with an arm or elbow while simultaneously using a forward motion of their leg to knock or kick the opponent’s feet from under them, causing them to fall violently to the ice. NHL Media +1 Penalties and Discipline Match Penalty (Rule 52.2): Any player guilty of slew-footing is assessed a match penalty. Suspensions (Rule 52.3): There are no specific minimum suspensions listed in the rule, but supplementary discipline is applied by the Commissioner at their discretion. Multi-Game Ban: Due to the dangerous nature of the play, the NHL Department of Player Safety often treats these with significant fines or multi-game suspensions. “ Quote

How many got a suspension? The call is is filled with judgement. It happens a ton without a whistle. Lots of "dangerous" plays in that series. dogcows Posted May 9 Posted May 9 WTF was that game by the Sabres? Tage was figure-skating, doing some double-spin and watching Montreal score. Other than Benson and Byram, not sure anybody else earned their paychecks today. Quote
dogcows Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Very weird game in Montreal tonight with 10 minutes spent challenging to allow… and then disallow a goal. Scads of penalties called… But overall, the Sabres played a good defensive game and Benson had a great game-winning goal: Quote

There are some players that stepped out of the woodwork and performed well, but for some reason it just seemed like they were never in sync. I think that comes down to coaching. but I saw all the games in the series, and while there was one game they lost that maybe the deserved a better fate on, as a whole, they were the second best team in most of this series vs the Ducks. The Ducks played well and deserved to advance in the playoffs. Quote

dogcows Posted May 16 Posted May 16 The Sabres looked terrible in game 5. I don’t have high hopes that they will turn this around. But if they do, I think a game 7 in Buffalo after 14 years of no playoffs would be absolutely epic. Quote
easilyscan Posted May 16 Posted May 16 The wild continuing the north stars tradition. But I'll keep watching, because there's nothing like the NHL playoffs. All other sports are downright boring compared to this. 1 Quote
