From what i read this is all privately funded. I guess you can complain about it being gaudy looking or whatever, but it shouldnt be an issue of taxpayers paying for this.

I would have to guess other renovations have been done there in 200+ years, no? So not sure the issue

It is one thing to remodel The Rose Garden. It is quite another to take a wrecking ball to The East Wing and change the basic structure of this historic building.

I think this whole thing is overblown, but it does illustrate Don's complete inability to focus on anything other than his own whims. I read somewhere that the area being demolished is where the first ladies' offices were. Since Melania doesn't use them, he thought "ah, fock it, I want a ballroom" and started tearing it down. I keep hearing he won't be POTUS again, but he sure doesn't act like he's a temporary steward of the People's House.

Of all the things you might complain about, this has got to be pretty low on the list.  I guess it depends on the level the President has affected you.

Nice. Now for a music trivia fact. What band said that their song is about this and not what it seems to mean (which was total bulls!t but funny) about balls?

The horror. The humanity! The VIP guests exposed to the elements! Whatever. Like I said, way too much is being made of this. It's just another 'flood the zone' waste of time.

An observation noted in another thread:

Terrorists tried to destroy the White House in 2001 with a hijacked plane.

24 years later the President of the United States accepts a plane from people funding terrorists and is destroying the White House himself.

My understanding is that the part of the White House he is destroying is not historic so I don’t really give a damn. On the scale of things to care about this is pretty low.

A few days ago Trump tried to lecture cattle ranchers  about how much the tariffs were helping them:

He is truly awful.

Trump's World is trending on Twitter and I thought it be nice to have a Trump general discussion thread that doesn't call him "Father"

Here's the hastag:

And I'll do the first post:

Squid, I am so happy for you and Tim.   When Biden was in office you guys were slowly dying on the vine, then trying to defend his dementia all the time.

Trump has given you both new life.

People's house = people are actually upset that tax dollars aren't being spent on this?

Seriously? They'd feel better if their tax dollars went to this? FFS.

Let him use his own money for this. Obama put in a basketball court using tax dollars...seems like that would get less use from these aging old white men than a ballroom.

He is using other people's money and be assured, that as a result, they will curry favor with him and be rewarded for it.

I have not.  I assume it will be available soon in finer men’s clothing stores soon?

Many are saying the finery will be available in a couple of weeks.

Please explain, in your own words, how a trade surplus benefits the United States. (Hint: it doesn’t. It’s meaningless.)

Damn dude, you are fawking stupid ignorant and have ZERO understanding how our economy work. Not only does it help reduce our debt, albeit fractionally, and creates jobs x100. Job. Creation is great for the economy and it also brings new investments from all. Dumb ass

The ballroom thing would only be sour grapes for the Trump haters if the guy had just A) gone thru the proper channels to get it built and B ) told Americans where the money came from.
