If someone driving while intoxicated commits another crime, they get charged with that other crime.  You should know this.

DUI/DWI is non violent. If someone driving drunk hits another person, they’ll be charged with DUI/DWI and an additional (violent) charge.

I wouldn’t expect a cop who thinks a murder charge requires premeditation to know this. Mahoney here isn’t the best and brightest.
