edjr Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 The Wire The Sopranos Oz Chernobyl Band of Brothers The Night Of Game of Thrones Six Feet Under Curb Your Enthusiasm Deadwood True Detective Boardwalk Empire The White Lotus Hard pressed for me to rank these, but I will give it a go. 1. Oz (perfect) 2. Game of Thrones (knocked down a spot from a bad final 2 episodes) 3. Sopranos (knocked down a spot from a bad final season) 4. Deadwood (Al Swearengen might be my favorite character of all time) 5. Boardwalk Empire True Detective may have had the greatest 1st season of all, but the follow ups ruined it as a series. 1 Quote
nobody Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 I've only seen 5 of them, so my list will be bunk, but here is the ranking of the 5 I saw. The Wire Oz Band of Brothers Thrones (didn't watch the last season) True Detective Wire head and shoulders better than all of the others. Quote
BiffTannen Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 1. GoT 2. Entourage 3. East Bound and Down. I haven't seen the others on your list. Quote
WhiteWonder Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 1. The Wire 2. GoT 3. Entourage 4. Boardwalk Empire 5. Oz random soft spot for True Blood 1 Quote

Hardcore troubadour Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 The Wire doesn’t hold up. You realize on the rewatch how stupid it was. Quote

Ron_Artest Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 I've only ever seen the Sopranos, so i'll go with 1) Sopranos Quote

MDC Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 Of the ones I’ve seen: 1. True Detective first season. 2. Sopranos. 3. Curb Your Enthusiasm. 1 Quote

supermike80 Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 The Wire The Sopranos Oz Chernobyl Band of Brothers The Night Of Game of Thrones Six Feet Under Curb Your Enthusiasm Deadwood True Detective Boardwalk Empire The White Lotus #1 Sopranos. #2 Band of Brothers #3 Deadwood..agree Al Swearengen was a great character and one of the best final lines ever #4 GOT #5 Chernobyl and true Detective (tie I guess) #6 Six Feet Under. Still one of the best series finale episodes ever #7 Curb The rest, kind of all bunched together. I'd add Silicon Valley and Veep to this list Quote
Ron_Artest Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 If Silicon Valley is a choice then my updated list is 1) Silicon Valley 2) Sopranos 1 Quote

Fnord Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 1. The Wire this used to be my favorite show ever, but when I tried to rewatch it, it fell flat. But for the sake of argument I'll leave it at 1. 2. GoT 3. Six Feet Under best finale ever besides MASH 4. Sopranos 5. Veep I thought Chernobyl and Band of Brothers were way overrated. Deadwood was ok but Swearengen was a fantastic character. Quote

Tried watching Breaking Bad all the way through a second time and only made it through season 2. For whatever reason it wasn't as good the second time. I'd recommend watching Sopranos again, it's been over 25 years since it premiered and you've probably forgotten enough to make it worthwhile again. Quote

GobbleDog Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 Never finished Boardwalk Empire. It was sorta interesting, but ... the pc-ness - ugh. I'm not even political, but jeesh. Ya know which character is gonna die next? Just wait until someone disparages - an Asian, Jew, injun, black, beats up a woman, or hurts an animal. They'll be dead by the end of the next episode. It became laughably predictable. Quote
