Pete Carroll?

Yes, Raiders got rid of him

These 4, added to the Giants, make 5 teams that will be looking for a coach.

I suspect Stefanski will be at the top of the list for many and won't be unemployed for long.

Of course, they'll have to satisfy the Rooney Rule first.

Forgot Brian Callahan, fired from the Titans. That's 6 teams looking for a coach.

I was a bit surprised they got him in the first place.  hes older, and his style of building a team would take a couple of years.

Raiders management is impatient, so I figured he  wouldnt last.

I was just reasonably sure that that was not the type of marriage that would work.   No slight against Carroll.

Raiders don’t seem interested in building a winning organization like that once were, they want a quick fix, but, they are awful at it.

Not since Al.  He did love collecting Heisman winners.

And, non-QB Superbowl MVPs.  And, fastest-at-the-combine WRs.

yes, and the ownership likes to meddle.  so when a GM/coach make a call thats best for team ownership will occasionally override it.

lots of teams have that problem not just Vegas.....  Dallas being one..... but like it or not......at least jerry Jones actually has some actual knowledge of football so when his people try to talk sense into  him it will work sometimes.

but this team has been mismanaged for decades.  Not sure that is likely to change anytime soon.

Jerry Jones biggest pride problem is the success his Cowboys enjoyed with JJ was at the helm, but I think even then Jones was involved, so I think that’s how he feels now, it’s up to him, the Raiders haven’t had success since they lost big in the Gruden bowl in 2002, and I was went looking at their failures, they have made the playoffs twice since 2002, at least Jones and is Cowboys have had a better go of it.

The Raiders organization needs to decide, we here just to make money, or to win something imo

Wow, that’s big news imo.

The Ravens never performed well in the playoffs.  With a multiple-MVP QB.  So, not surprised.

Hmmmm - me-thinks BUF HC S. McDermott might have some anxiety.  He's in the same boat.  Although, Mahomes has ripped the hearts out of many folks in the NFL.

McDermott wouldn’t surprise me, he’s won nothing.

If Jackson is celebrating this move by the Ravens, he had something to do with it.

This is 1,000,000% on Jackson.  He’s a choke artist in playoff games….and that was essentially a playoff game Sunday night.

MIA: HC Mike McDaniel fired per per ESPN.

:pointstosky:

It's only 3 pm.... but I already cracked a celebratory beer. The capri-wear'n, vape smoking, fruit loop who can't speak a coherent sentence is FINALLY GONE!  Players don't respect him, but liked playing for him because he doesn't hold anyone accountable and has the softest practices in the league. Normally when players or coaches go ya just wish them the best, but in McDaniel's case - I wish nothing but total failure.  I've grown to detest everything about him.

"But he's an offensive genius"!?!  After '23 the NFL cracked down on illegal forward motion.  How'd the Dolphins offense do after that?  He's no genius. He's a clown.

Go Dolphins

I expect MIA to push for ex-BAL HC J. Harbaugh.  Supposedly his Agent received more phone calls than there were HC vacancies at the time.  Perhaps MIA the "extra" call?

Falcons hired Matt Ryan as President of Football.

Ryan spent 14 of his 15 years in the NFL as a player with the Falcons, winning the MVP in 2016 and making four Pro Bowls. He signed a one-day contract to retire with the organization and was inducted into the Falcons’ ring of honor in 2024. Ryan is putting his reputation on the line in taking a job many believe was created specifically for him as the Falcons’ President of Football. He’s been granted full control with final say over all football decisions, including leading the search for the team’s next head coach and general manager. Ryan will pause his broadcasting career at CBS while he takes over the Falcons.

Good!!  Every time I saw a CBS ad for its morning show, his .. smile always looked like he was constipated, trying to push one out..

Looks like Tomlin is stepping down.

Steelers are better off. Tomlin's reputation was pretty inflated compared to his actual coaching skills.

he did a lot of decent things.  playoff record in recent years not great, but he did make the playoffs reasonably consistently.

he also (in my opinion) made the right call in letting fields walk.   I firmly believe that.   while Rodgers was just a band aid solution, they still got to the playoffs with him, so the decision wasnt necessarily a bad one.

but I do think this is better for all concerned.   Most coaches have a shelf life.    I do believe his shelf life in Pittsburgh has expired.    good coach.  but maybe a change of scenery is in order for both parties.

he is still under contract, so he cannot go to another team without the steelers agreement.  though I'm sure there is some sort of clause in the contract that governs this.

"he is still under contract, so he cannot go to another team without the steelers agreement."  From what I read, Tomlin's tired of coaching.  Although, the article author also thought at least a few teams would try and change his mind on that.

for sure.  hes not a bad coach at all.

honestly if you need proof, look at what fields did in terms of wins and losses in Pittsburgh and then look at what he did in New York.   that should say it all.

Tomlin was able to make him productive enough to get wins.   and that is the name of the game.

I always thought Tomlin was the best worst playoff coach of all time.

he gets his team to the playoffs the vast majority of the time.    for me that at least makes him above average.

compare that to many of the coaches who have either never made the playoffs or just barely got a sniff (1 appearance) hes looking pretty good.

I just dont think hes in there with the elite coaches.

Steelers coaching job would be great, great organization, and a job with longevity, three coaches since 1969, and all three won Super Bowls, and all three went to at least two Super Bowls.  Great job.

Greg Roman getting fired is a bit surprising - he was Harbaugh's rushing-mentality type of guy and it wasn't like Harbaugh needed a fall-guy to avoid getting fired himself. The Chargers stunk because of o-line injuries and insufficient talent - not exactly Roman's fault.  Oh well.

someone needs to take the blame.

wouldnt surprise me if the GM gave this directive.   in reality if it is a personell problem that falls under the GMS responsibiity (mostly).  As the GM isnt gonna put himself on the hotseat, the firing of the OC seemed like a reasonable firing without completely upending the team

Don’t understand that reasoning, why does someone have to be he blame, to please the fans, that’s just wrong, if you feel like he’s the right guy for the job you keep building.

I suspect the management doesn't want a ground-and-pound type of offense and doesn't want to get rid of Harbaugh.  They have an above-average NFL QB but repeatedly fail to assemble an effective OL.  All this is no surprise yet they will continue to change Harbaugh's approach without addressing the elephant in the room (the GM).
