easilyscan Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Approximately 3 times a year, while grocery shopping, I give in to my temptations & buy a 12 pack of Pepsi real sugar. I also question recent comments stating that artificial sweeteners are healthier/less bad 4 U than real sugar. Recent studies present a mixed view, generally indicating that while artificial sweeteners may aid in short-term calorie reduction or glycemic management for diabetics, they are not conclusively "better" than sugar for overall health. New research links artificial sweeteners to potential risks like weight gain, cardiovascular issues, altered gut health, and cognitive decline. Quote

He thinks it’s settled science. He’s at best a high functioning autist. 1 Quote

The key word there is “linked.” Artificial sweeteners are often “linked” to obesity, but those are not randomized studies so that’s really just because fat people are more likely to consume them. There are numerous randomized controlled trials showing that drinks with artificial sweeteners outperform sugary drinks in various health metrics, and in some cases even outperform water. People like @Strike automatically dismiss those though because some of them have been funded by big soda. He of course does not provide any evidence to the contrary besides studies like the ones your crappy AI search refers to. 1 Quote

Voltaire Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Root Beer, whatever brand. It baffles me that only my eldest daughter agrees and now seeing the non-responses here, its eye opening. #2 is ginger ale for me but for the rest of the house its Grape Crush. Quote

KSB2424 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Dr. Pepper is nasty, always has and always will. It’s cough syrup. Sprite or 7up - sugary lemon and lime water. Hell yeah if you don’t mind the sugar and other additives. Tastes great. I’ve never met a cool Root Beer drinker. Weirdos. Mountain Dew is for kids. Don’t get me wrong, it’s on the Mt. Rushmore as it’s amazing but the amount of caffeine and sugar could revive a drug addict overdosing on fentanyl. The GOAT is Coca Cola in a glass bottle. Hits the lips, the tingle. Old school. Quote
Gepetto Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I'm going to have to get some Grape Crush. I was actually just thinking about a couple or so weeks ago, and now here's this thread mentioning Grape Crush more than once. Quote
HellToupee Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Coke and Coke zero then Fresca or Squirt zero and then root beer occasionally Quote
Gepetto Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Donald Trump is a well-documented, heavy consumer of Diet Coke, reportedly drinking up to a dozen cans a day and using a dedicated button in the Oval Office to summon the beverage. He generally refers to it as Diet Coke or Coke, rather than using the generic terms "soda" or "pop". NPR +5 Consumption: Trump is known for his high consumption of Diet Coke, with reports indicating he drinks up to 12 cans per day. The "Diet Coke Button": During his presidency, he famously had a button on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office used to call for a Diet Coke. Preference: He is rarely seen drinking water and has a strong preference for Diet Coke. Terminology: While he has discussed the beverage in the context of it being a soda, he almost exclusively refers to his preferred drink by its brand name, "Diet Coke" Quote

Robert DeNiro's character in "Cape Fear" famously says, "Every man needs a vice." His is cigars. When you look at all the famous people who did not drink or do drugs, there was always a vice: Prince: Sex. (Until he started taking painkillers.) Ted Nugent: Sex. Frank Zappa: Cigarettes. Trump: Sex (when he could get it up) and Diet Coke. Alfred Hitchcock: Sick pranks. And then there is gambling. Stealing. Emotional and/or physical abuse. Manipulation. Eating. Spending money. Social media. Even healthy things such as fishing, running, cycling, going to the gym can become addictive. Everyone needs a vice. Quote
