Moving Back to the States from Japan

Recommended Posts

It's been close to two years now.  We're on the way back as of the end of this month.  Picked up a rental online already back in the area we were living prior.  The Mrs. has return rights back to there.  We chose to exercise them.

Overall... Japan was awesome the last couple years.  It's been a great experience.

The ONE caveat... the healthcare is weirdly antiquated.  Tried to get eye exams.  They brought out this box of monocles from what looked like the 1950's.  Gave my wife and exam and couldn't figure out my daughters.  It was redic.

Also.. they can refuse you service at the ER.  We had someone on one of the support websites last night asking where to go for a broken arm.  Local hospitals... nope.  They I think ended up driving to a navy base hours away, because they won't refuse civilians in an emergency.

But the local bases... if you are a civilian.  Sorry... no funding for you.  Go figure it out with the civilian population.

That's the part that sucked.... being in our 50's... hey I'd like to visit the doc for this. Yeah... good luck.  Go into Tokyo... pay the premium for an English speaker.

Meh... best toilets in the world... healthcare was 3rd world JV.

You should write a book about it ….. er I guess one at a time.

Haha .. right now I'm writing a non-fiction book about Indian Country that is going to make people really mad.  But .. meh, I'm retired.  I don't think they can take my pension away.  Probably...

I have 3 series panned.  9 books drafted for them.  Need to edit them.  I'm fast writing... Sloooow to line edit.

But no time now.  Running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.  Lots of moving parts to get back with the dog, the wife and kids.  Selling cars... Moving out and in.  Sheesh.

Yeah saw that... I've had to tell my wife.  Hey... you know if you stop looking at your feed.  Just shut it off.  We have a great life and everyone gets along.   In real life.  This is silly.

This is the way to live. When you get back I’d advise don’t turn on the news. Congratulations!

If you end up back in the Bemidji area, you're not going to believe the storm damage to the forest all the way to Cass Lake.
