What is this about?

It is a daily league where you pick a team that is available...  For instance, cmh has the Royals...

He can draft any player that has played in MLB for the Royals to his roster...  There are exclusives (players that have only played for that team), like Bobby Witt Jr, or players that have played for other teams but those teams are not in the league...

The draft is 26 rounds but goes very quick (usually)...  Then after the draft, there is a two round supplemental draft that can draft any free agent that is available...  For instance, if no one has the Yankees, Judge can be drafted...

It is a H2H league with nine categories each on the hitting and pitching side...

Here was last years draft (without the supplemental picks):  https://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/topic/525821-2025-all-rounds/

At the All-Star break, there is another two round draft of any free agent to help fill holes...

It is for sure...

They tried this method with football by taking two teams, but it didn't work out as smoothly...

If you are interested, the league board "Geek Homers" is under the Geek League section...  You can see what's going on for this year...

Where do you guys draft…..here/fantrax/yahoo?

It's all done here in the Geek Homers forum.  It'll take a few days to get through it.

You pick players from the back end who no one else can get (Witt, Jr., Pasquatino, Perez, Garcia, suckass suckasses like Isbel, maybe someone like India if no one else had the Reds) and then you'll see guys pick out of order because maybe I want a guy like Lugo if the teams picking ahead of me are the Cards and Braves while the Mets and Padres who he has played for are picking after me.

If any of that makes sense :dunno:

Looking at last years draft I’m lost. Marcus Semien went 1.1 to Toronto but someone had Texas with deGrom going 1.03.  I’m a little confused

Simien has played with the White Sox, A's, Blue Jays and Rangers.  Now this year he's headed to the Mets.  Last year he would have been eligible to draft by the Blue Jays and Rangers teams, as the White Sox and A's weren't represented.  This year he'd be in the mix for the Blue Jays, Rangers or Mets to draft him because the expectation is that he'll be on the Mets opening day roster.  So those three owners fight for that one guy in the draft.

DeGrom would be eligible for either the Mets or Rangers to draft him.

We then have some players leftover, like with the Yankees not being represented Judge would be eligible to anyone in our two round supplemental draft that all owners participate in that we do after the regular draft is complete.  We do this because it leaves some highly producing players on the waiver wire and to fill gaps.  Once the supplemental is complete, during the season you're only able to add and drop guys that have played or are playing for your represented team.

Make sense?

So Ohtani would be available to the dodgers or angels during the regular draft and then everyone in the supplemental

Yes, except the Dodgers haven't been represented since gratefulted passed so @Black Clouds as the Angels owner gets ohtani as an exclusive players he can pick in one of the later rounds.

How much is this league? Never played in a h2h and this league is really different

also are players like Cam Smith Hou available to Hou and the Cubs or does it just pertain to their major league teams

Free…

If they are a minor leaguer that has never played in the show, they are on their current team, even if they have been traded five or six times to different franchises…. Once they play in the pros, that is their team they are eligible for and all minor league franchises are gone…

Does that make sense and did I answer your question?

If a guy is a non-roster invite to a club this year, he could still be drafted by that club.   But if he gets released before making a plate appearance or pitching an inning that owner must drop him and can't use him.

And do you think I'd be coming back to this and taking the royals year after year if it weren't free? I have fielded some $h1t teams over the years

Verlander heading back to Detroit

Few thoughts on this.

From a nostalgia perspective,  its great.  Will be outstanding to see him back in town wearing the old english D.

From a non nostalgia perspective. Its ok.  I think its like 14 million. With 12 of that deferred until 2030.   Not a giant risk and maybe hes got a little gas in the tank.

Tigers have 3 starters on IR with Reese Olson now missin the season.   They needed the help.

So overall, im happy with this move

It’s hard to believe he doesn’t have 300 wins and he’s never going to. Neither does Kershaw. The two best pitchers of their generation. Maybe we’ll never see one again.
