Slayton had an awful year last year due to drops and ball tracking that plagued him early in his career. Maybe he turns it around, I don't know, would be fine cutting him but I don't think it makes sense financially. Maybe new coaching fixes him. They can’t cut him. But he’s not a difference maker. Move on to a better player. Quote

That tells you all you need to know. Every quarterback in the league who isn’t either elite or a promising QB on a rookie deal is in roughly the same situation. The difference between Hurts and Dak, TLaw, Herbert, Purdy etc. is this Jalen won it all. 1 Quote

It's going to take 2-3 more strong drafts but at least they have a solid foundation now. I'm not a Dart fan, he plays too much hero ball. Watching him in college, I don't think he can play in a structured system, which Harbaugh will demand Quote

We don't need Alec Pierce, let someone else overpay for him. We already have an Alec Pierce in Slayton. And we have a much better X in Nabers. These positions arent set in stone. Some WRs are pretty clearly one type. But Nabers can play anywhere. I have no opinion of what they need in the offseason. Pierce is very good in my eyes, he impressed me a ton this season. Like HT said, I thought he was just a deep ball guy but hes elevated his game in other areas. If you feel they need a WR, sure Robinson and Slayton are decent. But why settle for that when you have the cash and a rookie QB contract? You could be of thr opinion that a healthy Nabers woth Robinson and Slayton is plenty and I wont argue that. Slayton tho was an iffy signing. I actually like Slayton for what he is. But its like the Bills signing Josh Palmer to a similar deal. What resume deserves that contract? The Bills strapped for cash let Mack Hollins walk then paid Palmer more by a margin. It made zero sense and it was settling for meh anyway while spending more. Quote

listen2me 23 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Packers cap situation/contract situation I would put in a middle category. Notable players I expect released. Elgton Jenkins (the pro bowl caliber LG who they moved to center then had a season ending injury, while going out and paying for LG Banks who was always decent at best) I dont care for how they have handled the OL recently. They are obsessed with cross training guys everywhere. Rashan Gary- quality player who is a weird fella. He never lived up to his measurables. He had something like 7.5 sacks through 7 games and ended the season with 7.5 while not missing any games, he checked out. Guys who are up on rookie deals who wont be back Rasheed Walker- well hes the guy who recently went through an airport with a gun in his bag. But take that out he was never coming back anyway. He was a big find 7th rounder who turned into a quality LT. Packers are good at that. But he sorta capped out quickly and is a bit inconsistent. He will be too valuable on the open market at his age and position. Packers drafted Jordan Morgan who they have tried everywhere and he hasnt been good. But at end of year he got in at LT and performed his best. So they are probably forcing him into that spot as a starter finally. Its his last chance to show something. Romeo Doubs- I have always liked Doubs and I think he has more to show on a team that doesnt spread it around as much or use thr whole room of WRs in games. I think he can be a quality number 2 paired with a legit #1. With the room full of young WRs he just had no chance to come back after they extended Watson a year and drafted Golden. Malik Willis- what a great trade that was, what a lucky trade for Willis, it earned him much more money than he anticipated. Good dude, tons of improvement. I think he can be a good starter in right system, I honestly do. Sean Rhyan- this could go either way. A 3rd round guard who morphed into a decent starter at RG and beat out 1st round pick Jordan Morgan 2 years in a row for that job. He regressed this year. When Elgton went down we put 330lb Ryhan in at center and he actually played solid. Really depends what their overall plan is at OL. 2nd round pick Belton last year seems to have settled into RG. Packers either make Ryhan their full time center after cutting Elgton. Or they go draft or sign a true center. He wont break the bank but hard to understand where he is at exactly. Id love to keep him as 1st off bench depth but hes played decent enough to get a starting contract somewhere if its not here. I believe will and needs to be extended: Quay Walker- they declined his 5th year. Then of course he goes and has his best season. Uber talent that can be frustrating with lack of consistency. Borderline dumb but maturing. I hate paying off the ball LBers but they wont be able to find a LBer in the draft that can do what he does. Edge Cooper is a fairly unknown stud but keeping these 2 ultra athletes together is the best way forward. ------ Josh Jacobs- under contract but have to wonder if they cut ties now. I love Jacobs and hes still quality. Everything he brings to the team is great. But there isnt enough explosion to justify paying a high RB contract. It will be interesting as to what they do here. ----- No 1st round pick: the GM in his closing presser down played CB need, but he is lying. I believe they draft one early and maybe 2 total. Other spots of need are another DT, OL depth/ maybe a starting center. If they cut bait on Jacobs I could easily see a 2nd or 3rd round RB pick if someone stands out. Reguardless they will probably have to take a stab somewhere in the draft on one. Quote
edjr Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Patriots should have gone 9 and 8 and got a mid round pick. Quote

Is it a bunch of gawdy stats or winning? Marino was in an offense that almost always led the league in passing attempts, I'm just saying, if it's on stats alone then it's a joke within itself. Baker Mayfield will be in the HOF, not really but you get the point. I'm not arguing, but let's define HOF worthy. Quote
