Maximum Overkill Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Inflation is now at its lowest level since March 2021. BREAKING: January CPI inflation falls to 2.4%, below expectations of 2.5%. Inflation fell to 2.5%, in-line with expectations of 2.5%. Odds of further interest rate cuts are back on the rise. A key measure of inflation dropped to nearly a five-year low in January as apartment rental price growth slowed, and gas prices dipped. In January, inflation fell to 2.4% a year earlier, down from 2.7% in December 2025. Quote
cyclone24 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 So if you’re scoring at home…., that’s a record Dow Jones, inflation is way down, interest rates are down, gas is down, home prices are down, crime rate is down, jobs up…. so in other words, Trump was right. It’s all working. 2 Quote
Hardcore troubadour Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I don’t know if Trump is that good or Biden was that bad? Quote
Maximum Overkill Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Inflation was at 9% at one point under Biden. Looking back on the last four years, the Biden Administration started in January 2021, and in February 2021 the year-over-year inflation rate stood at 1.7%, the only month of the Biden administration with inflation below the 2% Fed target. In March 2021, the inflation rate was measured at 2.6%, and by April it was 4.1%. The inflation rate continued to climb over the next year, reaching its high point of 9.0% in June 2022. Early in the climb, in the summer of 2021, inflation was already above 5%, and the Fed and various members of the Biden Administration rather infamously labeled the inflation as transitory. Treasury Secretary Janet Mellon said, in June 2021, that "We have in recent months seen some inflation, and we — at least on a year-over-year basis — will continue, I believe through the rest of the year, to see higher inflation rates, maybe around 3 percent. I personally believe that this represents transitory factors." President Biden himself, in July 2021, used the word ‘temporary’ to describe the inflation rate. Over the next year, inflation rose to hit that 9% mark @dogcows @thegeneral @TimHauck @SaintsInDome2006 Quote

Stock market was up more in previous couple years than last. Lol at celebrating housing prices down, Trump wanted them to go higher. The dip is in part because consumer sentiment is down, that’s not good. Interest rates were raised to lower inflation. They have been coming down as inflation came down. I’m hopeful things are on the right track but things are middling IMO. Job market has some huge questions, Markets are volatile, debt out of control, I’ll call it questionable trade policy with the world. Things aren’t terrible, they aren’t amazing either. Quote
Ron_Artest Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Inflation was 2.4% in September 2024. Your data is wrong. Quote
Ron_Artest Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Also I don't trust anything this admin puts out. I don't believe the jobs numbers, and I don't believe this. Case in point The record-long shutdown, which ran from Oct. 1 to Nov. 12, prevented federal statisticians from collecting typical inflation data in October. Without that data, the BLS assumed that no price increases had taken place during the month for most categories of goods and services. Moody’s estimates the CPI inflation rate would be around 2.7% if that data were included, Zandi said. Quote

I haven't overheard any conversations about it either. We're just getting through the slow season now and things are picking up though. I'm sure I'll start hearing more soon as they get ready for planting season. Overall, business was about the same as last year and slightly down from the year before. Still profitable. Quote
