I don't think god exists, at least in the form most religions would have us believe. I can find god in nature, on my bicycle, or in a great song. My dad asked me to, so I did. Since then, only weddings, funerals, baptisms, confirmations, and the final service at the Lutheran church I went to as a youngster. That was a crazy trip down memory lane. Saw a bunch of folks I hadn't seen in almost 40 years and went through some of the old congregation books and newspaper clippings. My folks sure looked dorky in the early 80s. That was cool. Quote

My belief in God comes from what I consider miracles in my own life. Someone has been watching out for me and my wife. For example, recently I had to get her to an emergency room and they found that here Potassium levels are so low that if we had waited another 5 minutes, she would have died. A while back we were on a trip and it started to rain so we rolled the windows up. Then the thread on the tire blew off and hit the window. If the window had been down, it would have injured her badly or killed her. But the tire didn't go flat. We rode on that bald tire down the interstate until the next exit and there was a Walmart with a tire center that was about to close and got a tire, (the spare was flat.) There's other things, but you get the idea. You can say it was just luck, but when you look at all the times we got lucky, you have to start believing there's more to it than just luck. @Fnord 2 Quote

I tend to believe there is a "higher power" that DGAF about our religion. I think that this entity is probably far beyond what we pitiful humans can comprehend, and it has to do with energy and how interwoven everything is. I believe what we think of as a "soul" is just part of this all-encompassing energy field. I've had similar experiences to the miracles you have experienced in your own life, like a giant tractor tire/rim falling off a truck on the freeway overpass above me, landing directly in my traffic lane maybe 200 hundred feet in front of me, then bouncing harmlessly off to the side of the road. Or the time a friend and I were exiting a park and the heavy, unsecured gate made from railroad ties swung closed in a strong wind and rammed through the rear passenger window of my car. Half a second sooner and it would've splattered my friend's head all over me. Like you said, I consider that more dumb luck than evidence of a miracle, but to each their own.
