Good question.  We are told at the inception of any of the social programs that they are to be temporary, a hand up, not a hand out.  That our compassion will in a generation or much less have those folks off the dole and made into productive citizens.  If that were so moneys to the programs could be redirected to their new programs, the previous ones being a success.  They would not need additional funds, they would simply reprogram existing funds from successful programs which then no longer have a purpose or a need. 

 

The tax burden is high enough.  Time to prioritize causes.  If a new cause is urgent enough it can trump a previous, less currently urgent matter and have those funds, but no new additional taxes.
