Ray_T Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I think so. I suspect there is a decent chance he has played his last game as an Eagle. I'm thinking he may have worn out his welcome in Philly. Quote
weepaws Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Wouldn’t be that exciting of new if they do part, I thought it was take place last off-season. Imo. Quote

Imo. well, it is tough to part with a piece that was considered important to the last superbowl run. but this year production is down and his discontent is up. Hes now to a point where hes likely viewed as a distraction. they may mend the fence, but if they do its only kicking the can down the road. in the end they will need to deal with it. at this point its a 30 Mil dead cap hit to dump him so the ideal situation is to trade him if you can. Not sure if the league rules allow a team to eat a portion of the cap hit in a trade, but that's what I'd be inclined to do if you cant get someone to take the full contract. contract listed below: A.J. Brown | NFL Contracts & Salaries | Spotrac.com Quote
DocNiner Posted February 24 Posted February 24 What to do, what to do. So, what do you.do with a guy that still has viable talent but seems to be propagating chos.and tension in the locker room? Yes he was essential during their run to win the Lombardi Trophy but is the price you're now paying really worth keeping him. His recent saga seems to have spread into the team for both players and management and it's not good for the Philly franchise. IMO the Eagles need to remove this cancer from the team and move on. Brown probably would like to move on and so does managemnt. It's abundantly clear he is bad juju to the Eagles at.thus.point. Wondering what kind of hit to their salary cap would hurt the Eagles but at this point they shouldn't let it to continue to fester until the whole teams psyche is destroyed. Take your lumps and rebuild moral for the remainder players. In the end they'll be glad they resolved his situation. Quote

GobbleDog Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I was once one of Brown's biggest cheerleaders... impressed the hell out of me in Tennessee (where all Wr's die). Then his great Eagles years. And now... oof. Stats down and acts like a jerk. But will any team trade for that contract? Entering the '26 season, Brown is the 5th highest paid Wr. Quote

Like I said, if I got a mid round pick for him I'd be like, have a nice life..... but you may be right. nobody wants to bring on a contract like that if the players gonna possibly be a distraction. you can put up with that kind of behaviour if the guy is putting up 1400+ yards like he was a couple years back. but at only 1000 yards its seriously dicey. i certainly wouldnt give up a first or second for the guy. At that price I'd let someone else take that risk. Quote
weepaws Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Teams tend to over look the bonus attitude when a player produces like he can, I think they might get a 2nd rd for him, someone will pay Quote

Still a small chance it could be a 1st if dealt to one of the last handful of teams picking. Quote

Granted the buyout wont be that pricey in a couple years if you think you can suffer through that long I think a third is all they likely can get for that. Quote
Maximum Overkill Posted Saturday at 02:41 PM Posted Saturday at 02:41 PM The Eagles can't do it till June 1st, otherwise the cap hit is unbearable. Right now, today I believe that AJ isn't going anywhere. Roseman, Sirianni and the new OC have made it very clear that AJ is going to be a huge part of their new offensive scheme. Don't take AJ at face value, he does this every off-season. Quote
weepaws Posted Saturday at 08:15 PM Posted Saturday at 08:15 PM He won't be with the Eagles next season Quote

The reality is they have little choice. I dont think there will be a lot of buyers of that contract, and as a superbowl contender, you do not want to strengthen any of your competition. I think the right move is to wait until june 1 and then go shopping. Quote

Roseman knows that it makes no sense, especially right now. They're not a better team without AJ Brown. I highly doubt he's getting traded, unless he's got other moves up his sleeve which is always possible with Howie. Quote

Ray_T Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago ok. its ok to speculate. its the offseason. its fun its not like we are betting money on it or anything. I agree with you. something is coming. I just happen to think it happens after June 1. but i'm sure if the offer is good enough they wont wait. Quote
