this feels like an interesting off season topic.

I guess the question is how many players are choosing not to return to the Browns?   Lets start there.    but any talk about what kind of dumb moves they are making is more than welcome.  just keep your comments civil please.   We are all entitled to our opinions and this is a rather polarizing topic.

I know Teller (OG) is not returning.    Not super high profile but I think hes starting calibre in the right offense.

Njoku is not returning, though that is due to the emergence of Fannin.  Not due to any incompetence on the browns part.   They actually did something right in making Fannin the starter. (in my opinion)

not sure what the latest Desean Watson gossip is..... but hes getting close to those voidable years on the contract.  though given where hes at, maybe he doesnt void those years and hangs around for the money.   wow what a horrible contract

They might all choose not to return, but contractile, they will need to stay.  Sad.

I think we will see the Browns take a big step forward in 2026.  Fannin and Judkins are good young skill players, and I expect Sanders to do nothing but get better if he keeps his head on straight.  They need a legit WR1.  I’m not saying playoffs, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

They're a mess.  They should trade Garrett and get as many draft picks that they can.  Let Sanders have the starting job to ensure they get the #1 pick next year and have a bunch of 1st round picks this year and next to address holes and get a new QB (next year).  Fresh start.

I think that's the only solution.   that contract for Watson really mucks them up.  I think to buy him out this year is like over 100M.   even once they get into the voidable years of that contract the dead cap hit is over 50M.  as per Spotrac. (link below)  I have no idea why anyone would sign a contract like that.   Man it is Horrible.

If Sanders (or Gabriel) take the second year leap or Watson could somehow turn the clock back 5 years, the Browns could actually be competitive with some some relatively minor upgrades to the O-line and perhaps the receiving corps.  It will be interesting to see the impact of Schwartz leaving the D.  They obviously have talent on that side of the ball, so if the new DC can keep the ship upright, the offense doesn't need to be spectacular.  I wouldn't be too hasty to trade Garrett, but if the season starts out badly I'm sure there would be plenty of interested parties prior to the trade deadline (though I am not sure how much his contract structure would complicate any trade).

The Browns would have a better shot if you were the QB than those 3.

Ha - I just need a good agent to pitch my services to the Browns.

what do you think, should I draft you for fantasy?  what are your strengths and weaknesses.    Keep in mind 'Better than what the browns currently have' is not an actual strength.

You should probably wait until I actually get a contract before drafting me.  Strengths: I won't get caught up in massage controversies or any of the other stupid stuff that 20-somethings often do.  Weaknesses: probably everything else related to being an NFL QB.

The Browns traded three 1st rd picks ('22, '23, and '24), along with a 3rd rd pick, and two 4th rd picks. Watson then signed a fully guaranteed 5-year $230 mil contract. The Browns pushed every single chip they had in on Mr. Sexual Lawsuits.

It is by far the worst trade AND the worst contract in the history of the NFL.  Andrew Berry was GM of the Brown in 2022... incredibly, he still has the job.

That's stunning. Seemed like the world had seen the last of Watson in the NFL.

Based on his last 3 years of terrible Qb play...  can't imagine he'd win the job. But it would be fun to watch the train wreck continue.

that baffles my mind.

Though I will admit, it is also possible that he didnt make this call.   It very well could have been ownership (thus they didnt blame him when it all went wrong)

That said, nobody knows for sure.   But the funny thing is, I dont think anyone on the boards was endorsing this move.  it was so obviously a stupid move.   The only way it turns out well for them is if he produces like he did in that one career year he had.   Even then, the new lawsuits that came later obviously made the situation worse.

what can u say... Its the Browns.

(sorry Browns fans.... those of you still left must be the greatest fans in the world because I dont know that I'd be able to stick with this team given the stupidity)

Makes sense, they really have no choice with that cap hit.  Might as well just see if he's worth it.  Whether he is or not, he's going to be on the team because his salaray isn't tradeable.  No team is going to trade for him with a $46M cap hit coming their way.

They have no choice.  His contract isn't moveable, so he's going to be on the team, might as well see what he can do.

100%.   hes been injured.   but if hes well enough to play might as well see if he can recapture what he once had.

it may be highly unlikely, but like you said..... its not like they have a choice in the matter.
